Removing Lowering Springs

Removing Lowering Springs
I'm getting a BMW 540I and giving my girl my 00 Max, I was wondering if I take the lowering springs off the max and put the regular springs on will I need to change my shocks also or can I leave them on there and will they be fine.

I'm asking because I know everyone says that you need to change the factory shocks when you lower the car so I was wondering if it needs to be changed if you go back..
I'm also looking to sell the springs so anyone interested make me an offer. They have been on the car since May 2003

The KYB GR2 struts are a different design than the OEM strut. The OEM strut offers very little damping with small spring oscillations which helps to create that smooth almost floaty luxury type ride. The GR2 provides a lot of damping with small spring oscillations so you "feel" the road a lot more. The OEM strut gets very firm over big bumps and pot holes. This firmness is a function of piston speed and valving within the strut. The GR2 struts tend to "give" a little more over the big bumps and pot holes. Personally, I did not care for the floaty feel on smooth roads nor the harshness over bumps I experienced with the OEM setup on my 2K2. I immediately noticed the difference in ride feel when I went to the GR2. Don't forget the GR2 is designed to be an OEM strut replacement. It should work extremely well with the OEM springs. What I did notice about the GR2 is that the rears wear out fast when used with lower springs. If you've had the rears on for 25K+ you might consider replacing them when everything is out of the car. Plus, they are pretty cheap anyway. Good luck!
