I wanted to install a set of 225 45 17 on my stock rim because 225/50 17 is either expensive of hard to find and 235/45 17 usually are designed for rim with the wideth of minimum 7.5".

Will I need to worry about 225 45 17 not giving the proper speed at the spedometer?

I don't know about that but it'll look kinda ugly b/c you'll have a bigger wheelgap.

Hey LoveSick, your speedometer will be off by few MPH, you should go with 235/45/17, they fit perfectly on stock 17", bulge a little bit, but that could be a magwheel saver when hitting the sidewalk or pothole. 225/45/17 will look bad compare with 235/45/17, check the kumho Ecsta Supra 712 at tirerack.com here the link: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/kumho/ku_712.jsp The 235/45/17 goes for 100$us each, at that price nothing come close, if you want the best of the best go for the Potenza Pole position s02.

Cheers

225/45R17's will fit fine. The speedometer will be off slightly. It will indicate a faster speed than normal. I'm sure there are handling advantages, but only if you get a better tire than stock. Since you didn't ask about our opinions on how it would look, I will refrain from speaking mine

why would you possibly cut the springs? have you ever been in a car with cut springs? it rides like $*&%...if you go over one bump, you bounce for about 5 seconds...it makes people in their cars look stupid because they are always bouncing around...it is not comftorble for passengers either...just spend a little extra...cutting springs will not make it perform even close to eibachs or h&r springs...you will end up paying about $350 including install on either the eibachs or the h&r springs...cutting springs will probably cost you about $100 unless you have your own spring compressor

don't cut your springs...to automotive enthusiasts, you look like someone in a $25,000 car who can't afford $350 to get some good springs

go with eibachs (in my opinion)...h&r's don't ride as harsh...h&r's ride closer to stock than eibachs do and it seems to me like you enjoy a harsh ride...i'm not trying to offend you or anything, i just think cutting springs is one of the stupidest things someone can do...go ride in some cars with cut springs and you tell me if that is how you want your car to ride

Cool! I was told by some 7" dropped Blazer guy saying that they added stability to the car by lower the center of gravity!

maybe on a blazer it will add stability...however on our cars, you will get just as much body roll (since you are using stock springs) probably even more if you cut them...you will also have the bouncing effect i told you about...unless you like s&m w/ your kidneys, you will not enjoy cutting your springs...if you want a huge drop, get gc coilovers...they are about $100 more than the springs i mentioned above and they are adjustable
