Does anyone know how to reset the service engine soon light on a 2001 max manualy? Or do I have to go to the dealer, hope not.

 

please go get the code pulled first. you can do this at autozone for free and have a garage pull the code with a diagnostic machine for a fee. you can turn off the light by unplugging the negative terminal to the battery but wouldnt you want to figure out what the car is trying to let you know first? in many cases, the light is just going to come back on anyways.

 

sometimes the ecu just comes on cause it goes crazy.. mine came on and i disconnected the the batter for about 5 hours and it never came back again..
but if its a problem it will come back about 3-5 days

 

I had a complete tuneup oil change tranny flush, new rotors, pads, alignment, coolant complete PM and they told me that they were going to charge me extra to diagnose and reset the light for a charge after doing all that work. They should have told me that before they did anything. But I also have a 96 maxima and I can self diagnose the car and clear the codes myself. Thought it would be the same with the 5thGEN but I guess not I just have to go pay for it to be reset. In Miami AUTOZONE does not reset it for free anymore.
