Y-pipe and your $.02

I'm going to dyno my car at the end of July and I would like to get the y-pipe on before hand.

What do you recommend for a y-pipe? I've heard a lot of people have Cattman. I don't want a budget pipe, since I'm looking for longevity of the product and stability. Also, where did you buy yours?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I got a Cattman y-pipe on a group deal from SWA. Good product, good fitment and good customer service and I'm very happy with it. I don't know how you could go wrong with Cattman (a little more expensive). I haven't tried others, though.

I just got my budget last week and it fit perfect and i couldn't be happier with it..just didn't want to dish out more money on a cattman when it's not necessary...and when you say you don't want budget bc ur lookin for longevity and stabilty...they are both made out of stainless steel, they are both mandrel bent etc so why assume that budget doesn't have those qualities?

Buy the Budget Y-pipe and save your money! I got mine a month ago and was amazed when I saw it - almost too pretty too install. There were absolutely no problems with its manufacture or fitment. I have to laugh when I hear Maxima owners ragging on Budget and bestowing the virtues of Cattman. Do you pay top $ for the name for everything? If so, you would never step foot in a McDonalds or Burger King would you, LMAO!

I am assuming the F-pipe = Y-pipe?
Also whats a B pipe? If someone has time...can they explain the complete exhaust system starting from the headers to the muffler?
Thanks

Speak to Jody. She is there to take orders until about 2:00 or 2:30 ET.

Will take a credit card # over the phone and then ask for confirmation by e-mail. Just refer to the # provided over the phone when confirming (at
least thats what I did). She will then cofirm your order by e-mail. They ship it out by UPS and you will get a tracking #. It took me 5 days to get mine, once shipped, and I live about 3,000 miles away right on the West Coast.

I certainly notice more oomph and I'm just coupling the Y-pipe with a new K&N panel air filter. I was concerned about noise but there is no difference in sound when idling or cruising, just a bit of a growl at WOT. The exhaust might sound a little louder when warming up because a pre-cat (2?) has been taken out.

Yes, the K&N panel air filter just replaces the stock air filter. I am not into hacking th airbox at this point and don't want a CAI, PopCharger or hybride intake or whatever the heck they are. I'm low tech and proud of it, lol!

Jody

She says Can ship or install $15 ( Canadian)...installation is 15 too? how much have you guys paid to get yours installed? I thought it was roughly a 1.5 ~ 2 hour job?

Mine took about an hour to install ($50). Old one is tough to get out. A while ago Brian Catts had a post here on y-pipes. Stainless steel and mandrel bend were not the only factors in manufacture. The method and design of how the down pipe connects to the exhaust pipe is a big difference between y-pipes and their performance and cost. I'm not criticizing other brands, just stating what was posted before. They may all perform the same, I don't know - just FYI.
