Transmission shifting hard

Can anyone tell me what could be the problem with an automatic shifting hard? When ever it shifts there is a thud. Nothing too noticable but I know that it has never done it before. Also when I press on the gas pedal it feels like I have to press extra hard to get it to finally realize hey I need to really speed up!

Plugs and coils were replaced in October but I can honestly say that I have no clue if the transmission was ever flushed or other maintence. Overall it runs great. I am the second owner of this 2000 65k Max.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Start by checking the ATF condition and level. The fluid should not be brown nor smell like is burnt. It may be worth doing two or three drain 'n' fill of the tranny if you have no records of a ATF service.
Your tranny has a drain plug so it is very simple to do it yourself, use your choice of high quality Dex III fluid and save some money.

um..^^ could be one reason..
but its most likely cause your tranny is about to give out...
one big symptoms is that the car doesnt go anywhere when u press on the gas for like 2-3 seconds...
if you're under warranty i definately recommend taking it to the dealer and getting either your selnoids changed or if it comes down to it get your tranny changed...
it shoudl be covered under warranty if u have any

Transmission shifting hard

Well my transmission was doing the same thing recently. Now Nissan is currently putting a new transmission in my 02. You should defiantly try having the system flushed to see if the problem goes away since you are past the 60k powertrain warranty. Another thing it could be is the valve body. But the only way to be sure is to take it in to a transmission shop and have it looked at. That will be the cheapest method if flushing it does not work.
