check it out! customized grille!

what do you guys think? it took me a while to make this grille, but only cause i didn't know how to go at it. i wanted it to look as factory as possible. I've never seen a grille like this one, so i decided to custom make it! i love the factory grille's in the 02-03 maximas, but they just need a little mesh... the grille could've looked a lot better if i had bought more mesh to properly fix the top and bottom pieces, (which i ended up messing up... *doh*) the bottom mesh just reflects light a little different at the bottom where it "becomes a part of" the grille. this wouldn't of happened if i wouldn't have bended the mesh to mold around the grille at the time (I ended up trying to flatten it back out... *sigh*). i'd already invested about $50, and $35 is a little steep for that mesh... ... anyhow... it looks so much better in person! hope you guys like it to! post your thoughts!

looks good

actually this mod would work really well if you painted the grill to match the car and left the mesh polished

it would really stand out

nice job anyhow

Interesting....I like it, but it would look better if you smoked the giant Nissan hamburger that you 5.5th gen guys have or paint the mesh black..

mine is similar, but not the same, and painted dk gray to match the early 5th gen grille..

I'd thought about this actually... ... i'm tempted to photoshop it to see what it would look like. maybe later tonight. i went w/ black cause i'm going w/ a black/white/chrome theme. i wanted back head-lamps, but wasn't sure if i would like the projectors (especially since they don't fit the 02-03s perfectly), and i wasn't sure if by cooking my headlamps back together (after taking apart and painting the inside black) would make the paint bubble or anything... i'm doing more research into that.

not a bad idea at all. when i bought the car, it actaully came w/ a golden hamburger, (i think something the car dealership did so they could charge me more $$ ) i got the silver emblem to match the grille... never once did smoking it cross my mind... now, where was that "how to smoke your hamburger" thread again?!!

I hear ya on that one... my personal digi-cam is broken. Had to use the one at work, while I was at work. They don’t trust me to take it home... :\...

Use a smoke enamel spray paint, it looks good. I think maybe Bluesbrkr has done this on his car, he's blacked out damn near everything on his ride...

You can spend $5 and get it at Home Depot like I did....it's a galvanized steel gutter guard which will not rust...I just painted it to match.

Looks like clean work, but I'm not feeling the look. I think it might look better if the mesh were black and the grille was body color. PS will tell the tale...

yup :P i wouldn't mind making and selling this grille... how many ppl would actually want to buy it and how much would you be willing to pay is the only thing that runs through my head. beings that some ppl would just rather have a how-to and do it themselves for cheaper... dunno though... i htink i'm going to get a couple more grilles and impliment the improvements on them that i discovered while making mine...

--

here's another thought i had while making the grille... and this will all go back to personal preference. If you take the hamburger out of the front grille, and then make the top 'bar' go all the way across like the bottom bar is doing. i thought this would look great, but i don't now how to make custom molds. (yet)
