question on drive by wire
im going to be purchasing a 2003 titanuim edition 6 speed in the near future and i DONT WANT THE drive by wire, i want good old steel cable. My question is can i take the steel cable and components from an earlier 3.5VQ say a 2001 and retrofit it into the 2003. Would this affect any computer related components ? and im not new to maximas i currently own a 3rd gen VE 5spd and am sick of the lackluster power. TIME TO UPGRADE !!

for some reason i just dont trust it for some reason when i test drove one the throttle response wasnt as fast as when i punched my 93, now granted the 2003 took off like a bat out of hell on speed and 10 cans of red bull but i was just concerned with throttle response, for instance when i PUNCH it does it respond as fast as my foot is moving ? it just diddnt feel like it when i drove the 03 6spd last week. this is why i was just asking if it was possible or not and if it was possible would any on board computer system be affected ?

The DBW is definitely faster than a cable. You don't want to mess with taking it out. The system not only reads where your foot is but knows what gear your in, speed you're going, temp, humidity, and a whole host of other things are connected to it that it in a millisecond the computer figures out the best way to get the best power and economy out of the engine. It's not only connected to the accelerator and throttlebody. I think removing it would be damn near impossible and a big step backward.
The car your driving might be hesitating from a bad MAF sensor or may need the ECU reprogrammed. There is a TSB for this although the dealer will probably blow you off.
I've never heard of any issues with the drive by wire system on any Nissan model.

Yes, there's a TSB and the car you drove likely needed the work. My Max had DBW issues when I first test drove it. If you stepped into it around 3-4k it would hesitate before pulling. An ECU reprog. at the dealer before purchase did the trick. Trust me, a properly configured DBW system is nothing to be afraid of.

Only been shopping 3 weeks? Took me over 6 mths to find one in silver w/ a 6MT w/in 300 miles... Consider flying to pick it up if you find what you want. I nearly flew to Cali before I found mine in Missouri.
