Under the seats.

Can i drill directly under my seats? I am thinking of redoing my system and wanted to know if there is any fuel lines or anything under both of th epassenger and driver seat. I wasn't sure if all maxima's have the same basic design so I wanted to post this is 5th gen but I will also post it in the sound forum.

Thanks,
Eugene

Take off the rugs on the floor and find out....I really wouldn't recommend drilling anywhere into the floor....you can't tell what's there....

better to ask someone who has already done it right? It'll save me time and any mistakes from screwing up my cow print carpet.

Here's what you do. Take out seat, Take off side molding to lift up carpet, make 1/8 thick board roughly same size as amp, use screws long enough to attach to board the board and carpet will allow amp to move.

WAIT WAIT, wtf are you doing that is requiring you to drill underneith the seats? Please think carefully before doing a bad install. There is no need. Honestly you can hide amps in the trunk if your thinking of hiding them, and not only that but drilling straight under your seats is just a bad idea. The trunk of the car has a huge area, have fun thinking of something in there...

well becuase I already had them in my trunk before on my custom amp rack.
Listen up people, its great and all that you are watching out for me about drilling here and there, but I don't need post about why not to drill there. If you drilled there or tried to drill there then thank Jesus you are the person I've been looking for for the past 4 hours. Of you haven't drilled there, then "wtf" are doing posting on this thread?

Did you read my reply I put mine under my seats. take a board put under carpet screw amp to board not to floor the four screws into the wood will hold it into place. That's how we did it at my last place I worked at. your not screwing into the car your mounting it to the board. do you need me to draw you a picture.

I have my jbl bp1200.1 amp under the drivers seat.....
The reason? Because its 125+ sometimes in summer hear....amps in the trunk of every car i have ever owned get sizzling hot in the trunk with no ventilation. So putting it under the seat is really my only option unless i wanna ventilate my trunk.... besides its a perfect fit.
and No i have not drilled holes.....sorry wish i could help....but i like the idea of the board under carpet solves the problem i have where my amp moves lil by lil.

Velcro is probably all you need to secure it to the carpet.

I run a Alpine MRV1507 which is 10.25" wide by 21" long, no way can I fit this under the front seats. Higher end amps have cooling fans inside them for thermal protection durring extended high volume use. I push 2 10" DVC subs at 500W RMS into 2Ohms a channel. No problems even when hitting 150+db. Sometimes ya can't fit something that big under the seats, so trunk is the only option, Stinger makes auxillury amp fans if anyone is interested.

i have my alpine amp under my seat. drilled some holes to hold the amp down and they're fine. passenger side has nothing. Driver side has the brake lines under the seat so be careful if drilling under the driver side
