additional tranny cooler, engine oil cooler?

additional tranny cooler, engine oil cooler?

I am wondering if there would be a positive advantage to a engine oil cooler and/or additioanal transmission cooler. My background is a 2K max, auto, intake and y-pipe in the near future. I run M1 synth in both the engine and tranny. I swap out the tranny fluid once a year, engine oil twice (every 6K). I drive aggressively and drive a mix of hwy/city. I don't wanna spend money where I do not need to, but if there would be a benefit in longevity I think its worth it. Advice and recommendations would be helpful. Thanks

should be good without it. it might be recommended if you were FI or doing constant punishing driving conditions. mobil 1 in both engine and tranny will lower temps on its on. if anything, you want to consider shortening your interval of oil changes. some put 8k miles on M1 while others change every 3k. i personally change 4500-5k.

tranny cooler would be a good idea for your auto.

as for engine oil cooler, kind of not recommended if your not boosted. Your oil should stay at a certain temp to have a specific viscosity. Normal NA applications won't need to worry about oil temps getting too excessive

B&M Hi-Tek Trans Coolers #130-70264

I'm very happy with mine. You can really tell after long trips that the tranny insn't struggling to stay in there. I always noticed hard shifts after trips, but after I got the cooler they all went away and I shift like I just cranked up the car. Not many people have done this mod and I don't know why all autos don't because I was very please with the results. $70 spend well worth it.

i was under the impression that the poster already had a tranny cooler. my comments were aimed at the oil cooler. ive had a hayden tranny cooler on mine for about 2 years now. if i had to do it over again, i woudl get a b&m cooler but its a very inexpensive mod and makes its even easier to do your own tranny oil flush. this is the most complete WRITE UP i found and used on my install.

It took me a few hours because it was pretty hard to mount. Anyone could do it thought. just don't plan on doing it in an hour... or atleast for me it took like 2.5 hours. I couldn't decide on where to mount the damn thing.

thanks guys, i will install a tranny cooler. I said I already have a tranny cooler and what I mean/meant is the factory cooler built into the radiator that all the autos have. Thanks for the writeup also

Is there a point to add tranny cooler if you got manual transmision?
