Tranny "slipping" when i turn ON the car!

ok well just got a 2000 white maxima se. and love the car

one thing i noticed though. when the car has been off for awile, i turn it on and put in reverse to back out of driveway, everything fine,

then when i put in drive, it seems the tranny isnt "catching" and wont go, until i press the gas a little harder... then it starts to get going and after that, all is good. i dont know if this is a bad problem or what. also, i got the car at a dealer auction(car was a lease) so i cant just "go to the dealership i got it at" lol..

so if anyone knows the problem and a fix, thatd be great

also, a lil OT

but i just put in my berk intake with apexi filter and it seems a lil worse when i start the car...

also, when people say u lose LOw end torque with an intake, you lose ALOT of low end torque, it feels horrible, but i heard if u get a grounding kit it helps regain that back, this true?

thanks guys

if you still have warranty on the car you can go to any dealer you like.
With an intake (Berk) and a catback - I don't feel much of that low end torque loss. It doesn't make much difference anyway. But I was able to cut down .2 sec on 1/4 with adding Berk intake to my exhaust.

Could be certain things:

1.You replaced transmission fluid with orange juice. (inside joke between me and him)

2. Are you shifting the tranny from R to D while its still going backwards?

3. How many miles on the car?

lol.. 85k and its doing that? Check out all the tsbs... and wait for the real smart people to help you.. I dont know much about trannies. Thats the problem with getting cars from auctions without warranties, you dont know what those cars have been put through.. How much did you pay?

Nima, thats too much to pay for a 2000 at an auction.. you could have gotten that at a dealer witha warranty for the same price. (but I dont know if it would have been fully loaded).

This is what I would do and it should cost bet $70-120
Ask around for a good/local tranny shop, or an auto shop that does trans.

Have them drop the pan and clean the magnets and filter (cleanable or replacement on a max, i forget) get as much info on how the magnets and filter looked.
Have them put in new fluid (I like Mobil 1. offer to buy it youself and bring it in with the car)

A lot of auto trannys are a little soft when cold, the mobil 1 may help some.
Hopefully you'll get another 100k out of her before you have a real problem

Take it to the dealer first and see what they say is wrong.. Youll love it when it works right, you just have bad luck.
