Budget B Pipe . . .
Budget B Pipe . . .
I am looking to get a Budget B pipe next and I heard that it sounds really good with the stock muffler if you get one without a resonator...i was originally planning to get one with a resonator however bc I don't want any droning or much noise over stock when idle / normal driving...does a resonator have any bearing on performance in any way?...anybody have experience with the budget b pipe or a similar setup that would know the type of sound/performance i should expect from this pipe? (i'm not replacing the stock muffler, even in the future) thanks for any input.

well good things and bad things about a b pipe..
bad things.
since the piping diameter is going to be bigger you'll loose low end by reducing back pressure and gain a bit on mid high end. (unless you're boosted)
good things:
b pipe w/out resontor and stock muffler is a great combo.. you'll get something simillar to a G35C sound.. it sounds awsome and yet still quite in the car

was wanting to know the same thing..... is the b w/out the resonator louder than a 3.0 w/ intake? i dont mind noise when i floor it, in fact i would probably want more nosie when i floor it. but in regular driving, is it louder than the engine itself?
one last thing, the b = cat -- before muffler rite?

you wont here the b pipe when you're crusing..
b pipe is the piping after the cat which leads to the muffler
getting and y pipe and b pipe with stock muffler IMO is the best sound combo..
not loud at crusing speed but when u floor it you get nice rumble and a nice sound from the muffler

I have had a stock muffler with Budget B and Y Pipe on 2 different 4th Gens and it sounds hondaish without the resonator believe me.
I also have a 2k2 with Hotshot headers, Budget test pipe and B-Pipe. I have a resonator and no resonator section and believe me NON resonated is not what you want. However with Budget you can get both sections and make up your own mind, extra cost is minimal.
You can see the flanges on either end of the resonator section that can be purchased with or without.
I run the stock muffler on the street and swap to a Vibrant straight through at the track.

I think anyone who install the pipe themselves that haven't installed one before may have problems with fitment of any exhaust component.
Mine fits perfect and doesn't hang low, nor does it rattle against anything. However it does take some alignment because its 2 1/2" in dia vs the stock one that is less than 2" is some places. So in some places clearance is close and can be a problem if you don't adjust the flanges or mounts.
