shifting to neutral

i tend to shift to neutral while driving down a hill or when coming to a stop. sometimes, i shift back to drive from neutral while the car is still going. a few people i know do the same thing. is this bad for my car? thanks

Actually, I do the same thing. When approaching a light that I know isn't going to change right away, I put the car in neutral. Don't see how that could be bad, you're using less gas and it takes less effort to stop the car.
