Definitely take it to the dealer, my last tank I got just shy of 30 in mixed driving, granted I was taking it easy but I can't imagine getting such crappy mileage unless you never take it out of 3rd gear....

Take it back, that's why they have warranties.

You're supposed to have 3yr/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper and 60,000 powertrain and unless it's been voided or expired, you should be covered.

Now, as far as using the MPG computer, this is only an estimate of your actual gas mileage. Unfortunately for you, it tends to overstate the true MPG. As a more accurate measure, you should divide the miles run between 2 top-offs by the number of gallons it took to top it off the second time (that's the number of gallons you've used up).

I get 24 mpg constantly with mixed city/hwy. driving. I could believe that 15 would be right if you are delivering stuff, stop and go, so I think its right. Smell your exhaust, does it smell rich? does the car run OK? There are onboard monitoring systems that would let you know if something is awry. Just my opinion.

thanx, but if i do take it to nissan, what can they do? magically make my car get more MPG....or could it just be the computer that messed up? because i really dont think im burning gas quickly....all my buddy's have cherokees that get 13 miles to the gallon, tops....they use gas like its water....my car doesnt burn gas nearrrrly as much as their cars do....i dunno....

You stated "on my MPG screen in my dash it's reading like 15 mpg". What about what you have already driven and what's estimated until you run out of fuel? I roughly run about 400 miles with my 2002 with 6 speed on a full tank of gas. Now that includes normal daily commute(yes, some racing around).

First off, you don't need to wait until your tank is empty. Top it off, set the trip computer to zero, then drive about half a tank at least. Then go and top it off again, but take note of how many gallons will fit. Now take the number you see on your trip computer (miles run) and divide it by the # gallons you just put in (gallons used) and you'll get your true MPG. Hope this helps.

Your computer could be jacked up. If your computer reads wrong and you actually get 25-30 mpg, then you know the car is ok and the computer is wrong. If you divide your miles by gallons used (FILL UP), and it's over 20 then you are fine. If you are at 15, go see the dealer. You under warranty for 36K, lucky you only have 13 on yours already. I'm at 27. Hell, I updated my whole stereo, so you can't even get all the information about MPG, Temp, etc cause it's connected to the Bose System. Either way get something fixed-Bumper to Bumper....

I usually get about 22-24 on mixed driving for a tank, of course computer says i'm
doin even better like 25-26 MPG which i know is not the case. Highway mileage is super for a vehicle with this kind of HP. Coming back from Hilton Head in June, I ran the AC almost the whole trip and averaged 27.3 MPG and alot of that was at 75-80MPh. Hey Bergundymax: make sure the car has had this recall work done:http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB03-124.pdf

BTW You can still use the computer with an aftermarket system, just take the unused harness from the bose unit, cut the brown and white wire out of it and ground it to the chassis. You will regain all your computer functions, Hope this helps.
