2000-2001 Maxima ? (newbie)

Hey guys whats up. My brother in-law purchased a 5spd 2000 MAX a few months ago and i must say, i damn near fell in love with the car! Anyways, right now im in the market for a newer car with luxury, decent mpg, and some decent power. The maxima is right in my sights. Im a college student so ill definitley be putting miles on it ( no worries, it's a nissan). I already know the price range im shooting for ($9-11k).

My question is this, are these cars high on insurance? I know itll be higher for me since i just turned 19 , but just wondering your general input.

thanks
Walter

i never had a problem with insurance being high because of the type of car.

i figured the insurance company sees it as a 4 door family car. even though theres 220 ponies under the hood.

im just waiting to here what you guys with the 00-01 SE's have to say.

The insurance is dirt cheap. I am paying 1000$ It would cost me 1200$ to insure a TL, 1500$ an S2000, 2300 a WRX (not an STI!), 2300 a Volvo S80, 2800 a Mustang GT Convertible.

No. Insurance is not "dirt cheap." It all depends on where you live. Here in NYC, insurance is crazy on Maximas...or almost any car for that matter. What you should do is ask people you know who have cars of their own and ask them what they pay for insurance. You're in Ohio, so I highly doubt your insurance rates are as high as New York or New Jersey. Just ask around for a rough figure and you'll know what to expect when you give the insurance company a call.

You can even call a few companies and just ask them for a rough quote. Your age will play a bit of factor, though. (It'd play a HUGE factor here in NY)

i see your from medina ohio. im from cleveland area so rates will vary a bit, but i would think they would be close. i am 21 yrs old, no tickets or accidents and am paying like $700 for 6 months. that is full coverage with highest limits offered. i also have a $250 deductable...i think

thats on a 2k maxima gle. i have front and side airbags, i think the side were optional so that may vary your insurance some too.
