SES question..Should I be worried?

Hi All,

SES came on around 79500km on my car (about 1.5weeks ago). Then today at 80004km, SES light went off. Car felt fine even with SES was lite, no lose of power.

My question is, should I bother to head down to the dealer even if the SES is no longer lite ?

PS. I've been hearing some 'pinging' at around 2.5-3.5 RPM range when engine under load for the last few months (ie. up a hill).. not sure if it's related to that? Anyone?

Did you put gas in the car just before the light came on? A loose gas cap can cause the SES light to turn on, but it turns off after a few trips (after you tighten the cap).
