Hey man,
It's a pretty easy swap - I did it a while back. Just make sure you have the same year Maxima's cluster.
Basically, lower the steering wheel all the way, and go undo the screws holding in the plastic bezel, and take it off. then undo three screws holding the cluster in place.
Take both, and undo the screws holding the circuit board, swap them, and then your mileage and everything should transfer over. TO put the cluster back in, just do the top part in reverse.
Just DON'T touch the needles or anything. You shouldn't have to - just the circuit board. And be careful - based on the build date, the boards might look different. If they do, then you can't swap without altering the miles on your car. I had a 2001, but since it was an early 2001 model, it needed a 2000 cluster and not a 2001 cluster. If they don't look the same, then don't try to dissasemble it!
Good luck, PM me if you need any more help.

Here ya go, dude. It's for a '99 cluster but is EXACTLY the same for almost all years. This is what I followed for my '01, worked great.

iceland - pm Dario - he was the one that made that writeup that you are referring to. The instructions I wrote out are pretty much all there is too it, but maybe Dario has the web site tucked away somewhere else.

I did it pretty much the way Wasim531 said, except that I took the individual SE gauges out of their housing and put them into my original GXE housing...did it that way because the SE housing was from an auto tranny car and mine's a 5 speed. Kept my original mileage and everything worked fine when reinstalled.
