Bump stop replacement cost? Roughly?

Well, it appears that the clunk/creaking/croaking noise that's coming from the front of my suspension is because worn bump stops; apparently the struts are rubbing against each other or some such. How much does it cost to get a new set installed? I'm not looking for a concrete number, just a ballpark figure.

Help.

i would go ahead and just get the dustboots as well. the bumpstop is up inside the dustboot. not sure if you could buy them separately or not. however, i ordered mine from Dave Burnette, cost me around $80 for all four.

I guess I wasn't too clear...but I need to know how much it'd cost to install them.

Might as well get new struts since they have to be disassembled to replace the bump stops anyway. It will likely cost close to the same labor as strut replacement.

Number 9 is the bumpstop with the dust boot.

WTF. New struts? You've got to be kidding. I just had these blues installed less than a week ago!

I could not tell that by your original post. Excuse me for thinking too far outside the box. The struts still need to be disassembled to install bump stops though.

that doesn't sound like its the bumpstops - I just did my springs and struts last week and can't see how the bumpstops could cause that problem. It sounds more like the top hat (part 11-17 in the drawing) is not correctly aligned....that or something is loose. the bumpstops don't even come into play unless you're bottoming them out.

But expect to pay several hundred $$ to change them, if you're convinced that's the problem.....to get to them you have to take apart the entire spring/strut assembly....so it would cost about the same as replacing the springs/struts

also make sure the strut bearing (13) is not bad...if they crack you can hear some noise.....

also!! - did they put the spring isolator back on the springs (the rubber/plastic piece that wraps around the bottom of the spring)?? If not, then you will definitely get noise...

you can see it in the pic below:

Did you get these installed by a shop? If so, suggest you go back and tell them they did something wrong.....I did my Maxspeeds w/Illuminas by myself and haven't had this problem.

Irish: What drawing? You've got me curious...I want to make sure that when I'm going back into the shop they fix the problem. I'm going to write down a list of possible problems and tell them tomorrow.

Keep helping me out guys.

the drawing posted above (the spring/strut assembly diagram) by charliekilo....

seriously though, I see no way it couldbe the dustboot/bumpstops making this noise.
