Ride diffrence Betwwen 18/19;rims.all 5th gen owners with 18/19"rims step inside
ok guys i want 19 in rims im goign to put 255/40 on either 18 or 19 which ever i got, BUT i wanted to know will the ride be bumpier and harsh ALOT more with 19 rather then 18 ??? ... anyone with 18 or 19 and comments on the ride? i have a drop too. with eibach springs and illumnia.
i have 19's with 235/35's, you definitely feel the road more, but i'm happy overall. i have H&R's with illumina's and before the rims i was rolling around with the struts set a 4f/4r but i switched to 3f/4r and the ride is more than tolerable.
i think it depends most on the roads where you live. i decided to go with 18's, due to the crappy roads here. i have already bent 2 wheels, even though i am very careful with road imperfections. compared to stock, the ride is a little bumpier.
i have '18s
i purchased a some wheels for my max back in march from pearl96max they are 18's and i will edmit i wish i had my stock wheels back, because the reason i went to a maxima was because i knew they're nice and comfortable but these wheels ugh just don't cut it. What stresses me out the most is i have to keep dumping money into the car to get the ride comfort. But i will say they do loooook nice on a max they are Konig's by the way
I've got two sets of wheels. 18x8.5 Volk LE37's with 255/40's-Pilot Sport A/S, and 17x8 Konig Tantrum's with 255/45's-Dunlop 9000. The 17's definately ride better than the 18's, but not by a huge amount-its all about sidewall height. I personally would not go lower than 40 series. Pitiful roads here in Houston, I wouldn't go bigger than 18's.
19's will be bumpier and more harsh because of a thinner sidewall on the tire. Wider tires (18's & 19's) will track more than your stockers. Go 19 b/c 18's look too small on 5th gens...

thanks for the input guys, the thing is i already have 18's with 245/40 and im going to get 19 with 265/40 same thick ness in tire so if the side wall is the same will it make a diffrence i dont want to sacrafice comfort to much . maybe ill get 265/45 ?
We should make a sticky of this - "What wheels look good on your car, is like what artwork looks good hanging on the walls of your home, its a matter of personal taste and opinion." What looks good to one, will not always look good to another.
Even the sidewall height of the tire will change how a given wheel looks on a car. You also have to take into account how you are going to use the car, the road conditions where you do the majority of your driving, is a somewhat softer ride more important, am I willing to pay for forged over cast, will the wheel have a lip or not(wheels with a lip give the illusion of looking one size smaller-wheels without a lip give the issusion of looking one size bigger),etc. Take all these into consideration before you buy wheels, then buy what YOU like.

I agree with blubyu2k2 that a 265/40 will most likely rub, especially if you're lowered. I have 245/40's on 19" rims and I rub on occasion. I actually like the ride, but that's also because Toronto roads aren't that bad. The wheels do track much more than the stocks do.
there is no way a 265/40 tire will fit the front. I don't remember exactly, but Hamy is running 275/??, but that is for the rear.
People say that my 19" don't ride much different than the stockers, but IMO..... yeah they do a little. Get 245/35/19 are you'll be set.

235/35/19 is the closest diameter to stock. The ride is rough with the Illumina's set at 4F/4R, but I love it.

wheels too big
I had 19" Konig Prophets with 245/35/19 Hankook Ventus tires, and after 4 months I had split two tires, 19" look awsome, but ride really sucked and it seemed like they could never be perfectly balanced. Might of been cheap tires I guess. I went back down to an 18" Enkei Lm1 with 235/4018 Kumo all season tire and love the ride.
