Clutch Problem, Advice Please

Driving home today at the stop light I let out on the clutch and the pedel only comes back half way and won't engage. The resovior was empty with no fluid, but last i checked it was fine. Is the clutch gone or is there possibly another problem. I refilled it, but no luck, could have too much air in the lines now I don't know. All I do know is that the pedel is on the floor and I am a foot. Please Help!!!!

The clutch fluid is only for engaging and disengaging your clutch. The fluid does not directly involve your clutch. Its simply hydraulic fluid used to move the clutch. Unless you've been slaming the car in and out of gear, your clutch should be fine. You might laugh at this but often the only way to get your car to a shop when this happens is to force the car into gear (not good for your motor or your clutch).

Refilling the reservoir can sometimes fix the problem but only temporarily. Chances are there is a leak somewhere in the hydraulics used to engage/disengage your clutch. My understanding is that once contamination occurs (other things besides air and clutch fluid), the cylinders are shot. The contaminant can get in through the leak point.

I don't know exactly what the hydraulic setup is on the 5th gens but on my previous 3rd gen there was a master and a slave cylinder. In the case of my 3rd gen I had to replace both the master and slave cylinders. I found that out the hard way as I replaced the slave and then <12 months later had to replace the master (a couple of mechanics claim told me that when one goes, the other soon follows). Hope this helps.

aja is right, but there is always a master and slave cylinder it's possible ther's a leak, check under the car after filling or where you did, and the manual to find the recommended amount, as this may be more than you think.
Also, if the pedal is flowing freely, that may be another problem of the spring back mechanism of the pedal itself.
good luck!
