Question about 02-03 headlights

Is it possible to convert my 2000 maxima headlamps to 2002-03 headlamps using just the housings. Let me be clearer. I want the housings of the 02-03 but dont really care about the HID lights. Can i upgrade to the housings and run PIAA bulbs in them? Has anyone ever done this? I just like the looks. Also if this can be done and anyone has the 02-03 housings only perferably cleared turn signal marker, then let me know. Thanks

Just want to let you know converting them to 2k2 without the HID will put you at risk of HID theft...even though you won't have the HIDs but just the housing.

If you want a similar housing. Get the projector headlights off of Ebay or custommaxima or someplace. NonHID.

I've wondered the same thing (HID housings with just halogen bulbs....not actual HID)...I really like the look of the OEM 2k2-3 housings, but don't like the ebay projectors at all......

yes, same here. Quality and looks of the ebay projectors are not for me. And my area is not big on HID theft at all. So if this can be done and anyone has a set of housings preferbly already cleared for sale then let me know, thanks

if you don't want HID, why would you want to upgrade them? get the A/E heads instead

Because the housings only are pretty cheap... no need to spend anywhere from $700-1300 for HIDs. Some people don't even drive nighttime all that much for it to be worth it.

I think someone told me they're $150 from Nissan, meaning that you can always find them cheaper with a hookup.

if they are only 150 from nissan than I will buy them from there. The last hurricane frances scrathed both of my stock lenses so I have some insurance money I can buy them with, altough I do have to repair some dents and scracthes also.

What exactly do you get for $150?
If it's just the front lens (cover) of the headlight, how hard are they to take apart??
Or, does $150 buy you everything but the ballast?

They don't look THAT different - I thought the eBay projectors looked pretty similar to mine, pretty nice looking...

I'm no expert here, but I think you would need to modify the housing quite a bit in order for the bulb to fit. 02-03 housing use a D2R capsule.
