I need help with pricing on a car for future reference. I look on kbb.com and then, if a car is between 12825 as trade in and 14940 for private party value. If this is the case buying from a private party what price should I buy it at? Another thing is that I can't tell if a car has been in an accident? For example I've been looking at cars since june but all them cars seem to have gotten into accidents because the car gaps on the hood and the trunk don't match on both sides does that mean that the car has been in an accident or a real minor slight diff is normal such as 1/8th of an inch? Definetly get the VIN and get a carfax done before buying the car. You may also want to bring it to a mechanic to get their point of view. Buying used is risky and unless you personally know the seller, private parties are even riskier.

 

BTW: can someone post the heads up for how to go about finding a used car for the right price?
