best looking cosmetic mod?

In car commercials i always see a nice looking sedan with dark windows and cosmetic mods that make a big visual difference but of course they don't come standard. what do you think are the biggests mods to improve the Maxima's look?

I would have to say lowered AND body kit. They have to go together.

ummm I voted for lowering, but tint in ALWAYS the number mod you should do. Driving around in a fish bowl looks stupid. Then lowering to loose that hideous 4x4 wheel gap and finally a set of DDEs.

Wheels will set your car off the most. But they need to be paired up with springs of some sort.

rims, drop, clear corners
the first thing people will notice are the wheels, they set your car apart from any other maxima. plus theres something about the clears that really changes the appearance.

those aren't really fair comparisons...but I personally think body colored/smoked side markers look really good on a black maxima

also..tint (not too dark though) and a subtle drop (not slammed) look good IMHO...

i prefer the clears. im just not used to seeing a max without the sidemarkers. i guess i just like how the clears standout vs a dark green. i think we can all agree that anything is better than stock.

yup, the first thing ppl will notice is your after market wheels, which will make your max look more like a 4x4. don't get wheels until you drop her. trust me, it will look horrible with custom wheels, and oem suspension....

I voted for "lowered" because the 5th gen comes waaaaay too high stock. It's ridiculous really...

Tinted windows can look great on most cars, but it depends on the look you're going for.

If it was any car other than a 5th gen max I'd say rims, but wheel gap is so huge stock that any rims without a drop look rediculous. Drop it is.

Housecor is right about the drop.... I wanted to vote for a rim/drop combo cuz I think that's the best you can do to make a Max look good... if it can only be one, then it'll have to be the drop.... anything to close that wheel gap (i still got mine).... ugh...

The cars you see in commercials have all been lowered with spacers. I saw a Altima ad in my Men's Health magazine. It had been lowered to finger gap on the front and back wheels and the wheels were offset flush with the fender. It looked amazing (like an ad should) but I knew that no stock Altima would ever look like that.

Aftermarket wheels is the biggest cosmetic mod, but lowering the car is a necessary mod.

Hah, funny I've never really noticed this tactic but you're right. But, an even more common tactic is to limo tint all the windows or use misleading lighting. Whip out any car ad/broscure and you'll be hard pressed to see through the windows. Or go to nissan-usa.com right now - On the front page, only the Quest's windows can be seen through.

Anyone like a "stock" limo tinted Xterra?

You can't say one thing.....it's a big combination of things....like cleared out headlights, tints, wheels, and all sorts of other things.....together.

if i could choose one and only one cosmetic mod i'd have to start with tint. imo that should be the first cosmetic mod on any stock car.

after that it's a toss up imo depending on what you're looking to accomplish. personally the only cosmetic mod i have left to consider is a drop, but i'm not as disgusted with the wheel gap as other org'ers and i really like the ride and handling of the stock suspension (with rsb/fstb) for my driving style since i don't autocross or track days.

its pretty deceptive advertising but it works. most companies do it some way or another. like the pictures of a Big Mac look so juicy and it makes you drool but when you get one it looks nothing like the ad. the ad. company has already completed their mission, you bought their product.

I think tinting windows is the best/cheapest way to make your ride look nice. Wheels are the best way to make it look right.

The best mod I have ever done to my car was change the turn signal bulbs in front and rear to blue. When I have my headlights on, the blue sidemarks next to the regular beam looks syck, especially that my car is blue.

Tints is kind a must, the first thing that I got. Body kit is the biggest visual mod in my opinion as well as rims. Lowering is part of the new look.

I will take pics and post
