restrictor plate questions

hey guys if i take the restrictor plate off in my intake will my car miss idle or not run right?!?!? would i have to get my computer flashed?

No and no. All it does is open the air flow a bit.

very easy to do. loosen the clamp for air intake on the tb and remove the 4 bolts. wouldnt hurt to wipe down the tb while its loose. there are 2 connectors i believe which you will have to disconnect to be able to pull the plate out. the reason i was glad that i took mine out was there was a missing chip of paint on the plate. there is only one place it would go and id rather that not happen in the future.

i asked the same questions about 02-03s...soonerfan said he thought the 5.5th gens DID have the plate, but someone in the original thread about this said they didnt...so not sure.

I looked in the service manual and couldn't find a diagram of the throttle body. I guess the only way is to take apart our TB and look. I'm not that fired up yet to try it. Anyone else try that yet???

honestly, I didn't notice a difference, maybe even some low-end torque loss when I did it to mine. I put it back in.

i was told by a local member who has taken apart the 02-03 manifolds on many occasions that the plate was not there.

yeah, i posted in there, sloppy said he didnt think the 3.5s have it, and i dont really have the initiative to take it apart myself.
