Speeding ticket...Need Answers...Help

I got my first speeding ticket in NJ by a state cop and was going 74 in 55 mph zone. There is no way I can afford paying extra insurance and surcharge if the points remain on. Is there anything I can do get the points removed before the court date or in court. Any help or feedback is appereciated.

I would probably hire a traffic attorney. A good one that knows their way around the system can help to reduce the ticket or get it thrown out via various means.

Is a list with traffic attorney referrals in NJ. Good luck.

attend the court date and talk to the prosecutor. chances are, before you even speak, he'll reduce the charge to a lesser point value in exchange for a higher ticket price. i went to court twice, once for careless and another for speeding, in different counties. both times, neither cop showed up, and had the violations dropped to 0. if you want, hire a lawyer. good luck.

Yeah, that's what I heard, to talk to the prosecutor before hand. I hope it works.

You are going to need to hire an attorney. You will most likley get two tickets in lieu of the speeding ticket, and have to pay for the following fees:

(1) Unsafe Operation of a Motor Vehicla
(2) Speeding - Doing 60-63 mph in a 55mph zone
(3) Court fees

You can arrange for a payment plan if youi cannot pay it. I hate to break it to you like this, but you probably are not going to be getting out of an insurance hike...

An attorney will most likley be able to reduce your fines better than talking to an attorney. Plus you can push the court date off for awhile.

I got a speeding ticket awhile back (when I had my Boxster...I miss her ) and got a 103mph in a 65mph zone reduced to a 70pmh ticket...but that was with an attorney. I got a mess of other fines with it, but it did hike my insurance up to the point where I had to get rid of the Porsche.

Ya do the crime, ya do the time...good luck, man

just be a man, take responsibility for your error, and pay it...and drive slower.

not like you didn't know that there's a speed limit...it's a risk we all take.

pffft... it's not like that pig wasn't going 80 himself when he pulled you over. Gotta love the irony. Traffic tickets=money !=morality.

Tell it to the pig when he's doing 80 mph+ to get some donuts, or pool over some cute girl 3/4's his age.

I agree, but if you want to fight it, more power to you. But if you knew that you couldn't afford the extra surcharge from a speeding ticket, you shouldn't have speeded
