Just installed mine last....damn thing fit like a glove and love the anodized brackets..anyway do you fellows jack your cars rear end up by the RSB now or what being it's right under the rear beam?
|
Oh no! Don't jack the car up from the RSB. The Stillen bar shouldn't be blocking your rear beam. IIRC, there should still be a few inches of clearance for a jack.
|
The Stillen instructions recommend placing the RSB directly beneath the rear beam. Therefore, you shouldn't be able to jack it up by the rear beam.
I jack using that center piece thing, or do one side at a time. I once jacked it using the beam (pre-RSB) but it flexed too much for my liking. |

I jacked it up by RSB on the ends near the brackets and it seemed ok. I had no choice seen my jack stands were at the jack points in front of the wheels. |
Hmmm.... Either I didn't see that in the instructions, or I didn't follow the instructions. :bonk:

From what I can see, Paul2kGXE's bar isn't right underneath his beam either.

I remember reading that the farther forward you mount the RSB, the more rigid the car will be and vice versa for mounting in back farther. I have heard you are likely to spin out in cornering too hard if your rsb is mounted to far up, making the car too rigid and making it loose it's grip.
Does anyone else remember reading that on a thread? |

For clarification, I jacked the car up once using that center thingy. I believe this was the time in which I installed the RSB. It doesn't look like it should be the jack point, admittingly. I typically jack up either one side or the other.
I thought Paul's pics showed the bar directly beneath the beam. Maybe I just think this because of the recommended instructions or from some rogue thought in my pea brain. Whatever the case may be, the rear beam really gets some flex to it if you stick the jack under it. I was afraid I was going to permanently damage something. |
