Stillen Vs Generic Strut Bars

Can anyone provided some info on strut bars. I am thinking of putting a strut bar on my 02 maxima, but don't know if putting a Stillen or Generic strut bar off of ebay. Getting to the point will I see a diffrence between the performance out of any of these, or if I buy stillen will I really only be buying the Stillen Name. Thanks in advance

i have ebay one. strut bar is a strut bar is a strut bar. all do the same thing and you won't notice much performance out of it anyway. it will stiffen up the front end some and keep it from flexing. get the ebay one.......ssave your money

What is different about the layout that makes the front strut bars that makes them not fit the 03 auto's. Are there ones that do fit 03 auto's? all the ones I see say not for 03 auto's.

The 2 ebay ones above say they fit 00 - 03 not sure what would prevent them from fitting an 03.

They're all the same. I got a generic for my car in lieu of a $tealin and it's the same thing. The stillen one just looks nice... how often are you going to be *LOOKING* at it as opposed to *USING* it. Oh, and nirvana4all... just so you know, there is no Maxima SE-R so why do you include the SE-R badge in your sig? (and "it looks dope yo" is not an option)

Does the FSTB ever come in conflict with the sound deadening padding under the hood?

sold to me as an SE-R because it came with all the Nismo Upgrades that were out at the time. No one has still answered why Stillen and others say the 03 auto's dont work with front sway bars they sell. My mods are all nismo parts sold for the Maxima at this point, factory or dealership badging, still not clear on which, and some of my own mods: UDP etc with, getting around to intstall the z3 phase2 fenders, and dual exhaust, etc. But still no one answered my Q about why all the manufacurers list the front bar for 01 to 03, but state not made for 03 auto.

uhh, what Nismo stuff is available for the 5th gens...???

I was under the impression that "NISMO" stuff was fairly nonexistant for the maxima.

hav and installed the e-bay one, the car should reall have this piece stock.. but i got courtesy one on my 4 gen, almost exactly the same, imsure it had some angle difference but i notice a good deal of improvement more-so on my stock 4 gen GLE but the stillen one looks cooler, it's probably lighter, and thats why it's jacked up, but who care about a pound or 2

Question 1: Who sold it to you as an SE-R? Did they jack up the price saying it was a special edition or something? Not trying to rag on you for that, just wondering.
Question 2: Why are you putting z3 fenders on? It won't look right on a maxima.
Not sure why the strut bars don't fit the 03. I was wondering that too. I'm thinking it has to do with clearence issues.

the only nismo things they sell for a mamixa is radiator and oil caps which do the same dam thing. and even if they did make performance mods and you had them...that doesnt suddenly make it an SE-R. your maxima will NEVER be an SE-R..just an SE. deal with it.

from your profile -
Modifications:
SE-R package from Dealer with all Maxima Nismo Parts released to 08/03

the dealer played you for a dummy and you fell for it. there is no "SE-R package"
did they even tell you what Nismo stuff is on it?? and explain why it was an SE-R??

yes, all cosmetic mods, and I only paid $100 more than what the dealership 15 more miles from my house was going to sell me one in white (I did not want white). I did not make up the package, they did try to sell it as a special package, with "SE-R apperance package, all weather interior SE-R feel inside and out" came with the cosmetic mods, and lowered, and sitffer spings I think according to dealer. I wanted to use the phase II z3 fenders seen here at custommaxima http://www.customenterprise.com/view.../vts/design004
It was a little gimick thing, saying there were only like 2,000 of them or something, I think it was marketing to get people and to see if they wanted more SE-R lines (like the new Altima SE-R), but since I did not pay more, I am fine.
Unless there are some performance mods that I have not taken the time to look for, then it probably is an SE with some promotional stuff to draw in people. I wasn't the one who sold it as an SE-R, it was the dealership.

that dealer was full of ****. Nismo does not make lowering springs for the maxima, and they would not have put any other brand on it......Post a pic of your ride and we'll tell you if it's lowered. Please tell me they didn't put and SE-R badge on the back

The dealer did exactly what it hoped to do: Find someone who thinks that if there's an "R" or "Type R" on the back of a car, it's somehow "special". Totally bogus in this case. The "R" from other SE-R (non-maximas) and "Type R" on REAL Type R Integras indicated additional PERFORMANCE components, not pretty cosmetic mods.

Now if you got it for the same price as an SE, then good for you. But you should take off anything on the car that says SE-R in my opinion.......because that's

if i buy a maxima that the dealership put BMW emblems on...its still a maxima.
the dealership was stupid by calling it an SE-R. they figured they could get young kids to fall for it. im not saying that you are a kid and im glad you didnt have to pay alot extra for a gimmick

and you never listed the actually NISMO things on your car.
of the things that the dealership used to "justify" that they had made up a "limited" model

A dealer near me did that too. I was going to get it, but they wanted way too much for it. If Nirvana got it for the same price, then way to go for him, and if the dealer sold it too him like that, then why are you cracking on him? Is Gulfport near Clearwater?
The one I saw had like all kinds of badging and it had some SER badge in the front intsead of the Nissan emblem. That and the price was the only drawback...maybe I will get an Altima SER when it comes out. Dealers can do silly things.

I agree with maxi and Lontar: hater. Ricey would be him putting like a 12 ft wing on it and GTR badging and stuff himself, if he got it from the dealer cheap, then go Nirvana. If it was advertising from the dealership, then so be it, are we supprised? I had heard of a maxima SE-R, but I thougth it was just some factory add, but if they are doing it in lots of places, not just WV, then maybe Nissan did do it to see if people wanted Nismo parts or Altima SE-R. If ya got it cheap, then better for ya Nirvana.

Sorry I got knocked off. As for the SE-R thing, it probably was a marketing thing, but my friends, my wife and I all love my max. Clearwater is like 30 miles from Gulfport to Maxi, and I have now clue what is up with the newbies. If they like it, maybe I shouldn't. hm...maxi are your still on?

funny how you got "knocked off" at the same time that three brand new people posted supporting you and one of the new people just happens to live near you?
