i know this is probalby old, but i just found out, 2k3 maximas with certain vin number has some problems with the engine shutting off, and my car has the same vin number, but my car never had a problem, does anyone know about this? if so how serious is this?

 

serious enough for nissan to issue a recall. what if your engine shut off while you were driving on the freeway?

yo did u know the 2001 maximas had a recall on the altenator? someone told me this not too long ago. i wish they recall the coils!

Recalls can be viewed on the Nissan web site. I have not seen a recall for the alternator on 2001's.

Pablosal has a 2k and as far as I know, there weren't any recalls for 2k Maximas. But he did have an alternator problem once on the highway...

Summary:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE CIRCUIT BOARD FOR THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR MAY HAVE AN IMPROPER SOLDER JOINT DUE TO SOLDER DEFORMATION CAUSED BY HEAT STRESS ACCELERATED BY THE EXISTENCE OF FLUX RESIDUE DURING THE SOLDERING PROCESS.

Consequence:
THIS COULD CAUSE THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON, CREATE A NO START CONDITION, CAUSE REDUCED ENGINE POWER, OR CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

I had this recall performed on mine on purchase day, along with the hesitation TSB.

 

ok the campaign is to replaced to crank and cam position sensors it takes about an hour to have done at the dealer and nissan should have sent you a notice in the mail, if they didn't you can contact your local dealer and ask then to run (service comm) to find out if there are any recalls/campaigns outstanding on your vehicle. the recall basically is for starting problems the car has 3 sensors so unless 2 of them go bad at the same time you will not stall or get stranded, but i do rec. getting the campaign performed so you don't have to worry. the campaign
# is NTB03-124


there are 3 other campaigns on 2k2 vehicles transverse links, odometer, and accelerator pedal....

 

anyone know about if all the 2001's are a part of this recall.

Yes, but with a single thread it becomes very hard to follow a coherent conversation about a particular issue.

Also, a lot of times people join and don't really know what they are talking about until they get some experience (usually by asking questions, and then trying things out).

Do you really want people giving advice that are brand new and really dont know anything? Or would you rather they ask relevant questions, and try things out on their own and report back?

 

Bumping a thread from the grave is just bad netiquette, just like typing in all caps, or trolling and flaming. Bumping a thread this old asking about a recall that happened years ago is just a simple phone call away to your local dealership.
