Trunk question

I have an 02 Max and when I close the trunk it seems to close very loud and abruptly. I thought maybe the 2 little rubber bumpers were missing (one was so I put one in) but that wasn't it. After further looking while the trunk lid was opened, I noticed four little square openings, does anyone know if there is a weatherstripping of some sort that goes on the bottom of the trunk lip?

you'll have to post a pic but mines closes alittle loud but I mean there is a wing on it and the maxima skin is very thin. It should be alright.

I think those four openings are for the trunklid liner...do you have the liner on the inside of the trunklid? And yes, mine tends to slam pretty hard as well....probably the extra weight of the spoiler on top....soonerfan's doesn't slam as hard without it...

Holes in trunk lid

Here are the pics of the holes I am talking about:

Anyone know what goes in here??? There are 2 holes on the left side (shown) and an identical pair over on the right side.

I'm not sure, I was thinking maybe there was a piece of weatherstripping or rubber that clips in to soften the trunk from slamming when I put it down.
