Installing STS, Have a Few Questions

I just got my B&M shifter for my 00 max and plan to install it tomorrow. ive read a few write ups including the isntructions, and they all vary somewhat.

1. Can it be done without removing the cat?

2. do i have to put it in 4th before doing it?

Any other advice?

Yes, on the cat at least with the Stillen/SMC/Pacesetter, but I don't think it would be any different.

Putting it in 4th from the start makes it somewhat easier on a few issues, ie slack/room to move things around. However, you can always move it in/out of gear by pushing/pulling on the shift rods underneath the car, so it's not a one shot deal.

It takes some time and frustration at least on the two I've done, but it's not that hard.

My only other advice is make sure you have a friend to help.
