02 Maxima DIED!!!

Hey Guys,

Need some help. This morning I started the maxima, backed out of the garage and it died. I tried to start it back up and after a while it did. After it finally started I noticed that the Tach wasn't working and it was running like crap. Then the Service Engine Soon light came on. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? The Tach not working has me stumped.

go straight to auto-zone and have them tell you the code.. its all possible that you had a really bad start. sometimes it just depends on where the pistons are when you crank the key. ? maybe not really sure?

It has 55,000 miles. I'm going to buy a code scanner today and see what code it's giving. I didn't know anything about a recall.

So the Crank Position Sensor would cause the Tach not to work?

How long did it take for the crank position sensor recall to be completed?

Ok I pulled the codes. You guys were right. There were also 2 other codes. Looks like the O2 Sensor and MAF are bad. Only problem is that I'm over my warranty. Do you think they will replace the 02 Sensor and MAF? If not where is the Bank 1 Sensor 2 located and can I replace myself? I think I've read somewhere that the ECU may have to be flashed once the 02 is replaced. Is that correct?

Here's the codes I pulled.

PO335 - Crank Position Sensor
PO139 - 02 Sensor CKT Slow Response (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P1147 - Manufacter Control Fuel Air Metering

Bad crank sensor will cause the Tach not to work, I belive 02s use the sensor for tach signal. It counts the revolutions of the motor. P1147 is Bank 2 O2 sensor no 2 lean condition. Could have been caused all by the maulfunctioning CKP sensor.

Those are covered up to 60K. Since you only have 55K, you're still under warranty. Get it fixed quick.
