boost sensor and air temp

I built a custom cold air intake and was wondering where the boost sensor should go. Should I put it near the stock location or closer to the filter. Also, with the air temp sensor, should I put that in the piping? I made a custom cold ait that puts the filter lower than the injen intake (about 1inch forem the splash).

Thanks,
Eugene

btw, what does the boost sensor do?

Eugene,

I can't really tell you what the boost sensor does, but I do know that you can do without it. Those of use with Place Racing CAI's don't use these at all and have no issues with it. As far as the air temp sensor, I think anywhere before the MAF sensor would be fine...

ChromeSE5-

I believe the boost sensor could either be:
1. Help with the VIAS by telling it when to open and/or
2. For emission control purposes.

As for placement, of the the boost sensor, you could place it anywhere, as long as you have a long enough vacuum line to feed it.

For the air temp sensor, it would probably best to place it inside your custom air piping for best results.

so i checked on google and put the correct words in, and from the info we have an ambient air temp sensor so we can put it anywhere. But I'm still curious because I wonder if it can act as an air intake temp sensor and we can get better results by placing it inside the pipe or if it doesn't matter.

here is the link with brief info:

Btw, the Boost sensor is actually an Absolute Pressure sensor and I beleive it measures barometric pressure to adjust the fuel/air mixture depending on your elevation from the sea level. So, I'd say its only important if you live in the mountains.

dude read that article again, their is a difference between an intake air temp sensor and a ambient temp sensor an ambient temp sensor would be like what you use to send info to your outside temp reading. an intake air temperature sensor which is what the 5th gens have is mounted in the intake plumbing. technically yes you could put the sensor in the open near the air filter but to get the most accurate information it needs to be as close to the engine as possible this way the temperature of the air entering the combustion chamber is given to the ecm in its most accurate form.
