Exhuast ?'s

What are the best componets fro front to back? Ex.... Cattman headers and y pipe and greddy evo2 for cat back! Trying to get some ideas on which parts to go with and from whom.

Thanks for the help!

Cattman headers/downpipe combo, and a full catback exhaust, Either Greddy evo 2 or Cattman, depends on your style of design, they also have a high flow Cat, if you prefer that as well..

i have heard good things about the cattman y, i have the stillen y, and it has some exhaust pulses, partially due to the straight - through design of the Greddy. The Cattman cat-back is a bit quieter, and less agressive looking for sure, however for all-out gains i'd go with Greddy. Custom Maxima sells a resonated test pipe, beware the flange isn't great, maybe try milling the flanges for a better seal. it all depends on your needs.

It depends on what you want. Want loud exhaust, go with the Evo, and Cattman headers (no y-pipe needed, it is part of the headers). For more mellow exhaust, go Cattman headers/exhaust and high flow cat of course.
There are other systems out there, but Cattman is one of the best choices for our cars. That is what I'm getting.

I don't think the cat-backs will vary in terms of gains.... might wanna verify that statement.... the real differences are:

Sound - Cattman is less aggressive, quieter, and has no drone between 2000-2500 rpms

Looks - Cattman is dual tipped and looks kinda "conservative" if ya could call it that... Evo is single and is kinda big... some people think its ricey even...

Fitment - this is debatable... but ask around... some people will argue that an all Cattman setup fits great, but not when ya have a diff muffler or cat-back...

One more thing, I'm assuming y'all are comparing the Cattman and the GReddy Evo 2, and not the old Greddy Evo... reason being the Evo 2 is stainless and the Evo is not... but in saying that, I have the Evo and its not rusting on me yet...

except for the high flow cat... I believe the 02 cats are not that restrictive, so ya really don't need it... unless ya wanna squeeze out every single ounce of hp you can get. I just don't think that for the minimal gains its worth the emissions issues... but that depends on the emissions requirements in your state...

there is definitely a difference in gains on the cat back. The Cattman is a typically baffled muffler like a flowmaster, dynomax, etc, where as Greddy is straight through, Greddy even has dyno runs published for it's evo series, i Have evo 2, and it is stainless, quite big, but half gets stuffed under the bumper cover because of the offset tip, it's big, but so is the max, so it doesn't look bad.

Hmmm... I'm still skeptical, but only because this was an issue I never thought about before and I'm not sure if this even really should be a big deal. I know the Evo is straight through, but I don't know enough about the Cattman.... anyways, don't ya think the difference in gains would be hardly noticeable with a header/y-pipe & cat-back setup anyway? The difference can't be more than like 3-5 hp right?

Just so everyone knows the big reason for this ? is. I have had my car for about 2 months, It was shifting a little funny slip between gears and banging into the following gear. Good news is the .org helped me realize there was a tsb and with my car still being under warrantty they are fixing that right now as I type this. But upon putting it on the rack they noticed it looked like someone had run over some type of debris and it went down the middle of the car. So the exhaust has been patched and jb welded back together. So in other words I got ripped a little on the damage. So instead of replacing with factory pieces I'm going to the performance after market route. Also, my gas tank has been damaged so when i hit 1/4 tank I start stalling and spitting really anoying. And also my computer had codes in it and my ses light was not coming on! Guess what SOMEONE TAMPERED with it and broke the LED on the board. So needless to say i'm in some disputes about who is paying for some of this but the exhaust will be coming out of my pocket but the place where I bought my MAX had better take care of the rest.

Sorry for the rant but I wanted to see if anybody might have had any other ideas about any of this other stuff.

Thanks,

Sucks man... sorry to hear that... maybe you should post another thread wrt your other issues... I doubt anyone is really gonna see em here....

In terms of what you should do, isn't there only one thing to do? Get em fixed somewhere... I'm not sure if those are DIY fixes... the gas-tank and SES light...

Thanks,
I'm assuming that you bought the car from a used car dealer right? Well hopefully it was one of those " certified pre-owned vehicles. " If it was, then you have a very good chance of having them pick up the repair bill. If it's not a certified pre-owned vehicle, then chances are, they'll fight you on it. Is your car dropped? If so, they'll probably say that this is the reason for the damage on the undercarriage. As far as the SES led and the tampering, that's a tough one. Good luck ,though!

Dont forget about Frankencar. They have a pretty nice setup and no bwaaaahhhh sounds. If you go with header and the frankencar setup then you have a real nice power sound without the drone and moan. Not to mention the cops wont give you crap for being an import with loud exhaust.

Also OBX is ok. Cost effective and the gains are ok. You can also go custom, but not worth the hassle.

Yeah... you should know, driving around Fairfax County... I'm getting a y-pipe soon and might have to get rid of my Greddy so as to reduce the attention I get from our oh-so-loving cops around here....

Dont remind me. I have this Magnaflow setup on my car right now and I am like a cat on eggshells around here. You know it kills me, when you get pulled over for some stupid exhaust, but then some mustang drives by and put dents in your door with their exhaust and the cop doesnt even look over. Fairfax is just silly with the import tickets.
