What's up guys. I saw the thread about the guy that went to the N.Y Auto Show. I thought that since it is already going on that Motortrend.com might have coverage of it and sure nough they do. They have a photo of the new Altima. They also have the Lancers too. Here is the direct link http://www.motortrend.com/autoshows/ny01/index.html Anyone that goes to the show please take lots of pics and post them.

I was going to buy my wife the Subaru WRX, but since reading about the new Altima, I think that is going to be her new car. We will be a Nissan family. It will be cool to have nearly 500Hp of 4 door sedans sitting in our driveway. The kids won't ever be late to school now.

Check out freshalloy.com as well. Off the subject here but I was looking at the civic si and in my opinion i like the old HB bodystyle. The 2001 civics are really ugly. Anyone test drive one of these.

Heh... posted this in the other altima thread.... but u guys are aware that according to nissan, the new altima can do 0-60 in 6.3 secs... what do you think??...
talk about irony... imagine a year or so from now, when a shiny new altima pulls up to a stoplight, revs, and you know that your max stands no chance!!! :-(

I don't think that the new Altima looks that good. I reminds me of an Accord...and what is with the strange tire size: 215/55/17??? They must mean 215/50/17
Here is what MotorTrend had to say

2002 Nissan Altima Sedan
Nissan stole the show with its introduction of its next-generation Altima. A radical departure from the previous model, the new Altima features a distinctive new look, performance upgrades to its drivetrain and suspension, and is larger inside and out. A 2.5-liter/180-horsepower DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder is the base engine, and a 3.5-liter 240-horse DOHC 24-valve V-6 is optional for the first time in this sedan. Four-wheel disc brakes and P205/65R15 tires are standard, though four-wheel four-channel ABS and 215/55R17 tires are available on V-6-equipped models. Pricing will be announced closer to its on-sale date in September.

Hey tomz17, thanks for that pretty picture you painted in my mind of a new Altima smoking my "flagship?" MaximaSE. Just when I was beginning to get over the shock of the new Nissan arrival...

WHA!?!? 3.5 LITERS!!! Damn, there goes the maxima...I doubt nissan is going to make the altima 3.5 different from the maxima 3.5, so the altima could probably get up to the maimxa's 3.5l hp when a few ammount of mods...

Ya 240 HP... but 0-60 in 6.3 secs?? sounds like a stretch with JUST a y-pipe and intake...

Went to the auto show in NY yesterday...
took a look at the new 2002 Altima.
Well let's just say the back 1/4 is an acquired taste and probably why we haven't seen anyback shots.
Although she's an upgrade for sure all around from the current class with which i guess Sentra is now running solo.
Thats just my inital take on it the rear end is not what I wouldve thougt...would've posted a pic if i had a digi cam...but thats after i make some mods.
How's about someone with a cam snap a shot of her from behind?
