Hard Wireing Radar Detector

Before everyone jumps all over this post, about saying this is located in the install section, you are right, but the link is broken and will not work. So if anyone can write down or paste another link on how to do this to an 01 Max I would greatly appreciate it. Just need to know what wires I should tap in and where everyone might think a good place to mount it at.
Thanks guys.

yeah, it is hard-wired into the fusebox under the dash. wires run to the switch right above that. then through the a-pillar cover to the radar detector

why would cut apart your car to put a radar detector in it there are better places to put it..not to mention you have very dark tint on your back window so pull the ting down when the cop turns his lights on..not to mention you have it up in the tint and you are really reducing its range

Hey Thanks for the help there. I am going to do this tonight, but I am thinking of mounting it else where. But you should put this install in the how to do forum. I find it to be very good and detailed. Thanks again.

If you lived in VA like he does, the only better place to put it would be in the trunk...

It's illegal to own one down there, and you can get a ticket, even if you have it unplugged in the car and it's within reach of the driver. I haven't checked since I got my 8500, but I think it's even illegal if it's within reach of any of the passengers, which is just retarded...

So you need a REALLY stealth install, because if The Man comes around, you don't want him to even see it from outside of the car.

Every time I go down to the DC Metro area I have to remember to take the thing off and put it in its box in the trunk of the car when I get down to the Maryland House...

no problem dude. I've been working on my website but haven't had too much time. I do it at work when I can, but I just reuined my Max, so I won't have $$ or time for anything right now.

The write up is good just to give you an idea. Hope it helps. Send me any messages if you have questions.

Andy

OK everyone, Andrews (Andy's) write is good. It helped me out and showed where to get the power from, where to get a good ground as well. Someone needs to add this link to the how to for installs. I am sure it will help other people out as well. I noticed this post had a 100 + people looking at it, and probably half of them were wondering how to do it themselves as well, I know I could not be the only one that was wanting to do this.
