How much $ would this bring?

All,

Lifestyle changes may require a vehicle change for me. Posed with the "trade or sell" delema I'd like a few opinions on how much my car would/could bring, and how hot these are on the used market.

It's an 03 Max SE, Titanium edition, loaded (except for leather/Maridian package, 33K miles, not a single ding or scratch.

Research shows I may get 14.5K to 16K trade on a 25-30K vehicle.

Your comments are much appreciated...

It's not worth 25-30k.

More like 19-22k.

Is it a 6spd? 6spds are worth less.

No mods?

Would be best to sell on your own get more money, but if you find something you really like, trade it.

No Mods, and it's an automatic. The 25-30K figure is the price range of the car I would trade for. I guessed a private sale would bring maybe 19-20K?

You should be able to get $18,000-$19,000 private party. It all depends on your location.

Why are the manual trannies worth less? Aren't they in higher demand?

They're higher demand, but less expesive, hence the word standard = not an option. The auto is actually an option found that when I was looking for my car that auto's are worth more.

how will you save money on this? I guess you're trying to get them to finish your payments and take about 15k off another car worth the same or more? I just don't understand. the price range you listed could be you a new 04 or 05. now if you were trading for a 20k or less, then I understand how a "financial change dilema."

I'd pay extra to have a 6spd ANYDAY. besides, the 02-03 autos are the worst tranny nissan made. look how many people had them replaced already...

I agree.

Although, with the 02+ Maxima, I thought it would be an extra option being that olny about 3% were made 6spd, and it was an SE only option.

the only way you might be able to get more for a 6 speed is if you sell it to an .orger since it is in high demand here.

My vehicle change has nothing to do with money. Thanks to those who commented on the original thread subject. It's now off subject but that's OK. I got my answer.

Thanks

The 6-speed was identical in price to the automatic. No discount for manual. Trade will ding you because in general people do not want to drive a manual.

What I have found is 6-speeds will in general sell for more private party than Autos. It being rare surpases that it was a "standard" tranny (Not the "optional" one). Dealers will always give less on manuals of course trade in. Sell it private party...only way to go. List it in Auto Trader (among others). Auto trader has a search engine where a online looker can slect the tranny of choice in the search engine. I bet it will sell fast, and you'll prob get what you want, even though yours is an auto. Besides, there are consumers who only buy private party (no dealers). Worth a shot!

Thats interesting, on some BMWs, like the last gen. 540s. the optional manual tranny was almost $2k more, where the standard transmission was the auto.
