Automatic Transmission Question

Is this normal for the automatic? If I floor it from about 10 mph (like when I pull out of my driveway and into the busy 55mph road), it seems like it just sits there for a while and then shifts and takes off. Is that the normal behavior? It's not all that bad, but slightly annoying.

But if I really FLOOR the pedal, it downshifts no prob.

The lag could be the TCM just thinking about how to adjust the tranny given the increase in throttle when you floor it.

This is pretty normal for Nissan's poor automatic transmission. The best way to solve this problem is to drive at 3rd gear when your driving under 60mph. To do this, simply turn of O/D.
The other efficient way to do this is to drain the stock conventional automatic transmission fluid. Refill 7litres of Dexron3 100% Synthetic Mobil 1 ATF into the tranny. Add a small bottle of transmission conditioner into it. This not only provide smooth shifting and better down shift response, it also is much quieter and improve fuel economy.
If your car has differential, I highly urge you to drain its oil and replace it with 100% synthetic GL5 gear oil. THis will also provide better acceleration because the oil makes the tranny smoother.
