2000 Maxima Headlight Mods

I'm interested in doing something different with my headlights and I believe there are many options. First I would like other people's opinions and pics of what they have. I research on my NEW 5th gen on what kind of lights I want and here are some of them...

1. The Black Projector Headlights from Custommaxima.com

2. AE Headlights (any pictures, I wanna see the difference)

3. Can 02-03 Headlights fit 00-01 Headlights? (curious)

4. HIDS (I'm afraid they would get stolen, but what are the difference in these)

5. DDEs (sooooo, can 00-01's have DDE? Expensive)

Hopefully this thread will help me out in the future. Thanks all!

ok.
1. those are not good and bad.!
2. Good option and the cheapest of those
3. yes! of course.....ive done it. But if your not good at install or know anybody, good luck! you may not get too much help on the ORGS, just a caution for you.
4. also possible, but your high beams are weak from what i hear....these will be similar to the HIDs on 02s
5. DDEs can only be on 02-03 headlights.....not possible on 00 headlights(another reason i changed to 02 headlights instead of just putting aftermarket HIDs)

there you go questions answered.

well you konw all that chrome lookin stuff inside the headlight, the outside is blacked out......

i dunno if you can see it well but it is the first pic i could find....

better one off ebay... but you get the idea, it looks nice though for like a couple hundred IMO
the projectors are ok, i personally didnt like them, i bought it before it blew up in the ORGs, got it and did like the overall look, TOO MUCH chrome. so i resold it on ebay and never looked back, got HIDs and still happy to this day.

HID install is not that bad IMO i did all the wiring myself, because ive found out it is too hard to get help off the orgs on this subject, and it has only gotten worest. I myself cannot help, because i dont remember and didnt write it down, i did it that night and everything worked and is still workin so im not messing with it. ummm other than that i say go with what you like, if you want hids, just save up and get teh 02 ones with DDEs, they look nice during teh day/cloudy days(DDEs) and at night of course HIDS are the ****. BUT you can just go with AE headlights, they look sick as well on a darker car and put HIDs in, then you get nice looks in teh day and night.....for starters you can just do an HID kit for H4, then save up for AE afterwards, if money is an issue. which it was for me, that is why i just saved up for HID and had PIAAs for years before i went ahead and went all out. I just like that look when you first turn them on and it charges up, it is like BAM!!!! that is how i describe it...i love it every time i do it. and everyone looks if it your car is facing them, juuuust sick i dunno. hahaa well hope that long @ss reply helps.

Depends on how far Carlisle, PA is from the NJ border.... with increased attention in NJ, they might do some cross border shopping, if ya know what I'm sayin...

no those are just angel eyes....two LEDs wiried inside of plastic tubing....they are kinda yellowish and are more like BMW stock rings.....DDES are whiter, sharper and have a MUCH higher output in lighting....i swear, my DDEs are better than all stock BMW rings, no competition. But ive seen some new M3 change theirs to DDEs, now that beats our headlights for sure. THAT is VERY nice with projectors and HID. but hey i get crazy looks all the time from old guys in their 5 series, with their weak rings, after im behind them with just DDEs, (it looks intimidating that is what my buddy said after i drove behind him) and then get into the lane next to them. ahahaha

#1- those projectors look good, have virtually no light output. If you want to drive blind, but look good, these are your choice
#3- 02/03 HID's fit our 00/01's, Get them at Performance_Depot on eBay for
$598+shipping. I put these on my 2000, and they are awesome
#4- refer to #3

i just got the Projector lights, and i'm learning to live with them. they're cheap, so don't expect much. as for light output, i think it's fine. pretty bright compared to regular 2000-2001 headlights with Regular bulbs. only thing is, the light patterns all messed up. it looks like the lights being shot through a crystal, or it looks like 8-10 flashlights shining on the road in front of your car. u get bands of bright light, and general coverage between the bands.

but they do look pretty good during the day time. the night driving takes some getting used to. as for the Rings on the headlights, i didn't even bother connecting them. they're probably weak. my friend hooked the rings up and he said it looks like 4 horseshoes. the light doesn't stay consistently bright all the way around.

the custom AE job stands out a lot more than the stock but with the stock AE lights, you don't have to open up your headlights.

I bought some of the projector lites with the angel eyes off of Ebay. They fit almost as well as OEM. My OEM lites had the haze over the lenses and I got tired of looking at it. Anyways, the low beams have a crappy pattern like several flashlights in front of my car. The hi beams are awesome though.

They look good during the day and the angel eyes look good. I gotta get some pix and post them on the thread.

Well I guess if projectors suck.. my next choice is to get REGULAR 02/03 Headlights. Is there a site where there is a DIY method to install these 02/03 headlights on a 2000 maxima?

No. All those links are MIA for various reasons. The wiring is not that hard to do yourself, or you can have a mechanic do it (that knows electrical) like I did (I am not electrically inclined!). You can buy new 02/03 HID's from the dealer for $1400, or go to Performance_Depot on eBay and get them for
$598 (I got mine there, and they are awesome, exact duplicate, real HID's, perfect fit!!) Then order the wiring harness from Courtesy Nissan (sponser
of the org) for ~$35, and go to your friendly local dealer and get two lower 02/03 headlight clips for $4 and you have everything you'll need to install them.
