I have and '02 maxima

I recently noticed a diminish in strength from the car. Thanks to the cold I noticed that only one of the exhaust holes was blowing.

So I wanted to know if that is normal or not, for only on of the exhaust holes to blow and for the other to not?

 

Dude, I got the same problem. 2k max with 95k miles. There is valve in the muffler that opens up at 3000 rpm (i think its a dumb design). Well, if I rev it at 4000 nothing comes out of that second exhaust hole. I think that vavle is rusted and doesn't work anymore. I need new exhaust anyways. I also think its stainless steel exhaust, but mine rusted at 60k miles between muffler and mid-pipe.

Its actually a great design muffler. If it was bad everyone would be replacing it which most people are not. The muffler valve opens up when you WOT. Its designed to do this.
