2001 Gxe

My 2001 Sterling Mist GXE is only 3 days old. It has a factory installed rear spoiler but no foglights. I would love to install foglights. My question is how difficult is it to install the foglights? They are very expensive and the dealer wants quite a bit to install them. I would love to lower the cost by installing them myself. I am not a mechanic by any means but I am pretty good with my hands.
Also, has anyone noticed a bumpy ride in the GXE? I am hoping the tires are just out of balance. It is particularly bad between 40-45 mph but is noticeable most of the time at any speed.
Thanks,

Re: lamps
The foglights look to be pretty simple to install from the looks of the directions. I'm in the same boat for lamps. The lowest I've found the oem's are from coz at $195. The GXE's are pre-wired for the lamps, so that's one less hassle. As for the bumpy ride my GXE didn't have any problems like you mentioned.
Congrats on the new purchase! The ride is suppossed to be fairly smooth. As for the foglights, you can purchase some through Dave Burnette at Southpoint Nissan. www.southpointnissan.com

Re: Re: lamps
When you say "wired" for the foglights, does that include the wiring into the steering wheel mounted light switch?
Hopefully the bumpy ride is just the balance. Do you have the Toyo tires? I assumed that since the SE's and GLE's came with Bridgestone, that the GXE with 16's would too. My mistake.

When you buy the kit, a new light stalk is included. It's easy to install.

The GXEs and GLEs come with Toyos, thus I have Toyos on my max. If you don't notice any difference, then take it back to the dealer to have them aligned again. The "pre-wiring" is in the foglight housing, but I'm not sure if it's to the switch on the steering column. I do know that they give you a new sterring column switch in the package with the foglights. Try doing a search because I know some of the members have installed their own. If not, search the "sticky" threads at the top of the 5th generation page.

Someone posted a link to the foglight kit last week. Can't remember who it was that posted though, otherwise I would give them the credit. Here's the link to you foglight install bliss though. Oooops it looks like the site is temporarily down for the moment... Here's the link anyway

Foglights
Thanks for posting the link. I am going to get a set and give the installation a try myself. It really does not look hard. I can't understand why the dealer wants $140 to install. They say 2 hours at $70 an hour. Sounds like a rip to me.
Thanks to everyone for all of their help!!!

I installed OEM foglights on my GXE myself. I spent about about an hour or so doing it. It is not difficult. Courtesy Nissan has the instructions online. There is really no reason to let the dealer install them unless you are really feeling lazy and want to give your money away. There is a big improvement in visibility at night with the fog lights on. I couldn't stant the plastic pieces that Nissan installed instead of the fog lights. It looks so much better with the fog lights installed.
