Power Steering question

has anyone even thought about taking off the power steering belt or at least that how i thik you could de-activate power steering..

my feeling is that we have no road feedback.. the car doesnt really tell you what its doing.. yeah i know my cars limit but still do you think it would make it a bit more fun.. i know it would be a lot of work to drive after but maybe even performance would be a bit better? freeing up HP and all?

It'll be nearly impossible to turn. I had to drive a Sable once that decided to die when I was doing 70. I threw it into neutral and steered it off the road. Felt like I was trying to turn an ocean liner. It's dangerous to do because the extra components in the power stearing system require power to move them. When you move them without power, you not only have to turn the tires, you have to turn the power stearing system as well. You could end up breaking a lot of expensive parts

you dont want to do it..my power steering pump went out and it was IMPOSSIBLE to turn. if the whole steering system is designer for power steering then its almost impossible to turn without it.
if it isnt designed that way its a diffirent story..it was easier to turn in my 94 wrangler that had 33s!!
