Found a way to get a new paint job!

Just found a great way to get a new paint job and get that anoying chip out of your windshield! I was parked at a jobsite yesterday when a guy driving a flatbed truck decided that I needed a little body work. He basically backed it up onto my hood and through part of my windshield. The only thing that stopped him was the fact that he couldn't drive his tire over my bumper! Needless to say, I'm getting a free paint job! Any recomendations as to what brand paint? Since i have the option to get something that won't scratch when I sneeze on it I figure now is a great time to do it right.

Oh ya, I'm now driving a 2004 Buick LeSabre rental. If anyone thinks there max is a boat, I'll let them drive the buick around the block once.

Also, if someone can tell me how to post pics, I've got several.

BTW: I'm also thinking about getting the grill and engine cover painted to match the car. Any pics in a Merlot of this done?

THe company is gonna pay to paint the entire car? I figure they'll cover the front bumper, hood winshield and possible fenders.

No, but it's sitting at a Honduh dealership now. Just got off the phone with them and my insurance. My insurance is handling it to get me moving faster and they are going after the other guy's insurance. Both parties agreed to replace all the parts with Nissan new pieces: no aftermarket stuff. And, since it's at a Honda dealership, they will mix their own paint rather than Nissans. Since its all front-end damage, the parts that get hit with debris are the parts getting the new paint. I'll try to get some touch-up out of it if possible while I'm at it. I'm really hoping that the paint doesn't match exactly so I can take it back afterward and get them to match the rest of the car (longshot, but the Nissan paint isn't flat, so I may be able to get it). I'll thow in a few bucks to get the grill and engine cover painted to match as well. I want it to stay looking like it could be stock if you didn't know better.

Still wondering if anyone has pics of a grill painted to match. Also, if the engine cover is painted to match as well, will the heat of the engine discolor the paint or cause it to flake off? I'd like to know before I leave here to go to the body shop later today.

Thanks!

Easy, just find a jobsite that you need to be at for work or something and park behind the kid smoking a "hand-rolled" smoke. I'm sure he'll do the same thing to your car as what happened to mine.

Still sucks, though. I prabably won't get my car back for a couple of weeks from the looks of it.

PERFECT!!! That's exactly what I was thinking (it's even the right color!). Once I get mine back with the engine cover replaced, I'll try to post a pic of it with the hood open.

Update: saw the car: the insurance is paying for most of the front-end painting. I'll chip in another $600 to have all the other scratches taken out, get the grill and engine cover painted, have the car COMPLETELY detailed (including engine bay, trunk, headliner, shampoo carpet, ect). I should have it back on 11-17-04. I'll try to post pics on 11-19 of the engine cover and grill job. I'm just hoping it is half as sick as remax2nv's ride. I still need to add the front lip, side skirts, D2's, strut braces, engine dressings, ect, ect.

Update on Grill and Engine Cover

Got the car back last night. Grill and engine cover look GREAT!!! I'll post pics after I clean the engine bay, but need someone to explain how to show them on the forum. I was worried about the engine heat and the paint on the cover, but I've driven it about 50 miles and the heat hasn't affected the paint yet. I'll probably fab up a heat reflector to place between the cover and the engine, but for now it is holding up fine.

What's wrong with everyone, hoping someone HIT your MAX. I would freak, even if I did need a paint job but damaging the car beyond the paint, that's a terrible thing to say. If my car got damage the way yours was. The car wouldn't be the same to me anymore. I would ended up trading up for a car that hasn't been damage structurally. I can't just believe what I am just reading here, that you made it sound like the driver of the truck planned it out to just smash up your car.

Actually, it didn't end up with any structural damage. The hood, bumper, and door needed work, the fender had to be re-painted, the driver's side headlight was replaced, and I had them paint the other fender just to even things out. I promise that I'll FINALLY post pics tonight. I should be able to do it in about an hour. Still haven't installed a heat shield under the engine cover and about 500 miles later, no problems. The grill looks sweet, but Mr. Progressive wouldn't cover replacing the passenger's side HID no mater how much begging, yelling, and whining I did, so excuse the fuzzy HID.

Also, other than the windshield noise due to a rush job (getting fixed on Monday, again), the car looks and feels like new again.
