This issue has been beaten to death. You'll get people bragging about how fast they go in their Max and others who have gone faster in other vehicles and yet those who say doing so is risking yours and others' lives

I totally agree with ur statement!
Once the adrenaline kicks in i start speeding and race others... right after i beat them i suddenly ask myself "What the heck am i doing?" and i slow right down. But i try my best not to risk anyone else's life... that is i dont go over 75 when i have a passenger or when then there are cars around me. Getting pulled over isnt the issue... getting hurt is! Man... i crashed at 70mph on to the guardrail when i fell asleep at the wheel in a '00 Stang GT and ended up in the ER, then 3 days in a coma, then 3 weeks in the ICU, and after 6 months i was able to get off the bed and hadda learn to walk again! phew... I still dont know why i speed man!

Sorry about your accident, but in this case falling asleep at the wheel is what almost killed you, you just happend to be travelling 70 mph.

Speedos are generally inaccurate at high speed, so based on that....

yes speeding is wrong and really shouldnt be talked about in here. plus, yes it is talked about alot and there really isnt a point. now you know top speeds..now what???

that being said...to get this on topic before people get upset about "not answering the question"......133, 2000, GLE (open stretch of highway in the middle of no where in oklahoma..not another car in sight...i only stayed at that speed for a few seconds..just wanted to say i had done it) i NEVER drive like that if there i anyone else on the road...i will do something dangerous ONLY if it places ONLY ME in danger

I find no thrill out of top speed in my 4 door sedan. Been almost 200 mph real speed on 2 wheels. After that, not much thrill in going a mere 130-150 in a car (which I have in the max....). Also seen people crash at high speeds...and it aint pretty. You hit someone at those speed in today's environment and you are going to jail. Did my high speed on the cycle in the boonies and on the fastest track in North America.

zx12 ninja huh? my dream bike.... i'm jealous. as for goin fast, it's not the driving fast that is dangerous, its the environment that we do it in. This country isnt set up for high speed highway driving (unfortunatly!). but on empty roads, really what is the harm? anything that goes wrong at 140 could go wrong at 70 too. course you got twice the momentum behind ya... the car can do it, it doesnt feel floaty or out of control at high speeds, so the car is fairly safe to go fast in. it's the drivers that worry me i guess

Grow up...isn't that what you told me?

125mph in my SE. The suspension feels soft so anything over 50 feels unsafe compared to lowered cars.

134 2000 se auto w/ 103k on it. On the 405 at 3am. Floaty as hell.

As far as this thread and its worthiness, who can really flame it? It's a question with answers like most threads. Don't hate, just answer it or ignore it.

I will agree about the fact that factory speedos are horribly innacurate up in that range.

On a side note hit somewhere over 165 in a 95 firebird formula auto in New Hampshire. Night time with the headlights up, thought they were going to rip off. Stupid thing to do but its nuts when your speedo maxes out at 155 and its all the way past it and resting on the pin that keeps it from geting stuck on the dash at the bottom. Talk about feeling unsafe.

I suggest these actions for no one.

135 in 5th gear in my totally stock (at the time) '02 SE 6speed.

a LOT faster than that on my R1.

These are speedo readings, of course. And I think it is a legitimate thread. I know as well as everyone else on here we all drive fast, so why is it wrong to talk about it?
