?? about brakes

?? about brakes

well i was about to change my brakes and it seems like the rears are waring out 2x as fast in the rears then the fronts. this is not normal right??? arnt the fronts sopose to ware out faster???? i need to b1tch at dealer.

Unless you are driving around with the Ebrake on, that should not happen.

I have the same problem with my Maxima. B1tched at the dealer about it too. Apparently the rear pads are smaller than the front so they will wear quicker. At least that was what I was told. Roughly 60% of the braking done on the front so the smaller rear pads should even out the brake wear.

Seized/dragging calipers maybe.

Which pad is more worn, the inner or outer? If it's the outer one, then it could be the small boots and pins need regreasing. If it's the inner pad, could be a dragging or seized caliper.

I had the exact same problem and the dealer wouldnt do anything about it. I think its just a poor design on Nissan's part. The meatball at the dealer even tried telling me that rears should wear first, we went back and forth on the subject until I just said whatever you know it all. Its common sense that the fronts should go before the rears. But whateva

...the front wears first on my '03 SE. I think your mechanic is full of it.
