brake and battery light

Sorry if this has been posted recently, but once my car is on the brake and battery light stay on permanently.

Anyone know what this means?
Thanks

Alternator.

Hope you got the extended warranty. The dealer wants 450$ (CDN) for a new one.

Bert is correctamundo. I had the exact same thing a few weeks ago and ended up replacing my battery and alternator. I shopped around for the alternator but there wasn't much difference in pricing between the stealership and other sellers.

Even though hes in the US, you might have tried Dave Burnette....

BTW, the brake and battery light dont signify that the alternator is bad, just that the system's voltage has dropped below 10V. However, those two are usually the culprits...

yeah, i had the alternator tested and it is going bad, cheapest ive found so far is 220, and the dealership charges over 250 for labor alone.
I think I may have to install this myself

definitely the alternator. for the reason that ABS is the first thing to go to conserve energy in the car. pretty crazy huh. i would kinda like to have abs ya know, but then again i would like to be able to drive it too.

250 for labour? That is a rip-off. It took mine 1.5 hours.
