Question on tweeters

I've looked around the various forums and haven't found a topic similar so if there is one by all means direct me to it...

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that the tweeters may be the weakest part of the Bose system. I took care of the sub problem for the most part by putting sound deadening material in the rear deck, but the tweeters are WEAK (and the left one often goes out for no reason). I would like to replace them with some quality ones (though not outrageously priced) and was wondering if anyone could make some recommendations and possibly know of a how-to anywhere? Thanks in advance.

BTW, if it makes a difference I have a 2002 SE w/ the Bose (of course)

Are you sure its just the left tweeter that goes out and not the entire left channel? There is a defect in the bose radios where the left channel goes out. Check the audio forum sticky for a link to the tsb.

I'm not sure but the speaker on the door still works even when the tweeter goes out...

Even when both are working they are still weak...if the volume goes over 20 they die.

ok well ive changed out the whole thing....i got comps instead of just changing the tweets. to replace them is it was very easy, just pull off the A-pillar toward the center of the car and it just pops out....take out the old tweet, you may have to use a flat head to do this. then some installed it by hot gluing it to the a-pillar. I personally dont like that kinda unclean install....I drilled a small hole in the metal and screwed the mount for the tweeter in that and aimed it out the small holes in the pillar. here is a pic:

from there just run the wiring down to where you want and your alllll done. they now are very high, too high at some points. i used to turn the treble to max...now it is at 2 lvl or 3.... never maxed out again... hope that helped.
