I am attempting to reattach the lower portion of the steering wheel column cover. Do you have to remove the bolt that holds the tilt lever and runs through the steering column and then put the tilt lever in after you put the underside covering on? Please tell me that isn't the case.

no you dont need to at all. just hold the cover up to the column and allign the holes and put the screw in.

 

No, just make sure you screw in the 3 screws after snapping the column pieces back together.

 

Ok, well the lever for the tilt won't allow me to push the bottom cover up far enough to snap around the steering column. The tilt lever seems to be in the way even though I have slid the end of the lever through the bottom covering. Any ideas?

 

it must be different for 01 and 02 cause i can just pop mine off and on without manuvering about with anything

 

yeah it is a little different, but you should be able to move the bottom cover around the tilt lever until it realigns with the top cover. It should then snap together and just put the screws back in. Try wiggling it around a little or you might have to use some force.

 

just put it on in reverse order of how you took it off. if you cant get it back on...how did you get it off

I have tried force and "wiggeling" it. The bottom cover won't clear the tilt lever and therefore won't snap around the steering column. Thus, not being correctly fitted to put the top cover on and screw the two together.
