Painted front grill: Anybody got one?

Has anybody painted their front grill to match the body color? If so, can you provide a pic?

Great question. I'd like to know, too.
I'm sure it can be done.

A few people have

I remember seeing a picture Russ posted that had a white 5th gen with the ninja kit on. That car had a body-colored grille.

I think Mr Burner did some grill work.

I am really looking for one that does not have a body work or grill material added. Just looking for painted stock grills.

Yeah, the white Max Russ posted had a painted grille.

IIRC, kafene did it to his car.

Did the body shop take off the entire front bumper, or could they paint with everything still attached? How much did it set you back?

It is a booger bear to do. You do have to take the grill off and it is a pain in the a%$! I had my grill painted an 4mos. later a lady backed into me and the had to replace my front bumper b/c the grill is attached. I am going to buy another bumper one day so i can get the grill chrome plated(saw it done at a car show) b/c that looks even sweeter!

i have the front painted to match my car (pearl white) and it does look good. i dont' have any scanned pics. but i'll see if i can get them for you. i was wondering, on your website, added a lot of stuff to your car from the AE. how much was the shifter? i was planning on going w/ a razo shifter, but that AE one is really growing on me. how much and where?

thanks.

kafene,

I'd be very interested in seeing the painted front grill, as I believe others would, too.

The AE automatic shifter was around $90, maybe $85ish. You don't want to mess with it. It is not plug and play: you have to significantly doctor the shift mechanism (the part the **** attachs too). If you want more specific details, contact me directly.

I want to paint my grille too... Im going to get a few things painted on my car in the next few weeks due to a few nice scratches this truck left me on tues... So i will just have them paint the grille as well.. even though mine is grey lustre and it wont be noticed as much i think it will still look better...

and i may be interested in the instructions for the shifter. i'm looking at either the razo shifter like y2kev's or the AE shifter. not sure yet. i like the clean metalic look of the AE shifter, not to mention it's less expensive too.

I did it. I had to repaint mine because I am retarted and sprayed degreaser all over it. I went a few shades darker. Clear coat is your friend. And don't forget to scuff it before putting on the plastic prep.

Has anyone taken it in to get done professionally, or has everyone done it on their own?

I was curious as to how much it may cost and where you took it! I don't feel like taking the whole bumper off myself!

Well, I read all the FAQ's and How-To's and all that it linked was a thread that said, "Yes it can be painted." There were no pics or a write up. So thats how I found it, I was being a good noob and read everything before I posted. Sorry I took 10 seconds of your life away, thanks for the pics though.

IBTL I doubt he is going to email you, this thread is 4 years old!

I'm curious, did you go through pages and pages and pages of threads to find this?

IMO, it would be a good look only if that bar behind the nissan symbol was painted black so that wouldn't stand out with the grille.

The painted grille does look good. I thought the mirrors were painted. Mine is grey lustre so it doesnt stick out to bad.
