The oem on my '01 Max had Tokico stamped in the metal when I replaced them at 75K with a new set of KYB's from Tire Rack. Raised the car about an inch and gave a much firmer ride with less body roll. I like them, but I still feel every bump in the road.

I can tell you the Tokico Illumina (adjustable) shocks are great. They give you the ability to literally dial in the ride you want. They are a little more money than non-adjustable shocks, and they are worth it.

i just ordered the tok illuminas from the group deal. i have gr2's with my progress spring and the gr2's are on their way out. they are oem replacements so its understandable. adjustables are the way to go man

Its a very personal preference.... adjustables are indeed great, and I'd love to get em, but I don't have to, at least not now... I'm fortunate that I love the way my ride feels with my non-adj HPs and Progress springs.... my advice would be to actually see if ya can TRY OUT various rides (or ride settings) and see what works best for YOU. Trust me, there are people have gone with the "popular" choice and hated it because it just ain't them.
