why not replace them when you are doing the springs, it would save on labor whether you are paying or doing it yourself. i run maxspeeds with kyb gr-2 and i love the ride. minor drop with better handling is what i was looking for and it is what i got with that combo.

I installed Maxspeeds with my stock struts at about 12,000 miles. The ride is close to stock. I currently have 27,000 miles and the struts are starting to get weak (that's why I'm getting the D2 coilovers)

If you've got over 25,000 miles on the stock struts, replace them when you install the springs.

I did alot of reading and asked alot of questions about this subject. I narrowed my search down to H&R and Maxspeed. H&R springs are made in Germany, and are utilized by alot of BMW and Mercedes owners who want more performance, with the refinement that keeps the ride civil. H&R have been around for decades making springs.
Maxspeed is a cheaper alternative to H&R, with less refinement and R&D put into their development. In the end I choose H&R, and the ride is vastly improved, more control in corners, very solid without being harsh (unlike the Eibachs on my Turbo Supra), all in all a very refined suspension upgrade (of course I added Tokico Illumina's too)!! It is all up to you, but my vote goes for H&R's.

I have Tokico HP Blues with my Maxspeeds (very similar to stock) and the ride is great. If you want to adjust your ride go with Tokico Illuminas.

I must agree with sloppymax, just install both at the same time, don't do a half *** job.

I love my Maxspeeds. They feel fantastic. They have a great rebound rate, the roll has been greatly reduced and I'd say go for either Tokico Blues or Illuminas.

to my knowledge Maxspeeds are actually MADE by H&R. Kind of like Narva lightbulbs are called "Narva" in Europe and "Candlepower" in the US.

I can't speak for H&R's since I haven't had them, but most threads talk about the H&R's sit a little lower (sag?) in the back. Don't know if that's true. I have the Maxspeeds with Illumina struts. Ride quality is simlar to stock SE springs but with MUCH less bouce over big bumps/dips. Handling is greatly improved. With the illuminas set midway between hard and soft, the ride is comfortable and only harsh over the roughest of roads (keep in mind I have other suspension mods that contribute to stiffer ride also).

My vote is for Maxpseeds only because from what I hear/know, they and the H&Rs are very similar in ride, drop, and handling but the Maxspeeds cost 1/2 as much....

I just put on the Maxspeeds with kyb gr-2's. At first I thought it was way too harsh, but I also just put on 18x8 rims with the tire presure way too high. After about a week to let the springs settle in and lowering the tire presure, I can say that I am very happy with them! Are you putting them on yourself? If not then save the install price and buy the struts! Stock struts suck and it was not that hard to do at all. Just takes some time and a buddy to help. Also my wife didn't notice any change in the ride. A bit more firm and less and no more float feeling!

Just my .02

I have yet to see any evidence that they are made by H&R. I had read somewhere that they are made in the USA.

No sag, at least not more than any other spring after 10-15 years.
H&R springs drop 1.4" in front, and 1.3" in back, so actually there is MORE drop in front, then in back. The wheelwell is larger in front on our cars, so
you need to drop 1.7 + to "make" the drop look even, of course then you void the warranty on most shocks (for example, Tokico only warranties their shocks up to a 1.5" drop).

They are absolutely half the price of H&R's, and if you're happy with them, then that is all that matters in the end

I think I read somewhere that Maxspeeds are made by ADR.

Maxspeed springs are not made by ADR. They're made by Maxspeed. The US distributor for both products is Golden Apple Corporation. So people may have started thinking that ADR makes Maxspeed springs.

How do i know? I used to sell these products. I still have an account with them but haven't dealt with it for a while now.

I was like you Maxspeed vrs H & R?

I was asking to everybody which one are the best for little performance and soft-ride ( Irish44j and turbo_gg) both of them have very good points, so I drove my friend's car for one day, and my final desicion were H&R's, but the choice is yours....

car1 (H&R's)
car2 (maxspeed's)

Good luck!!!!!

The springs are very heavy, dude. The full package weighs about 60lbs. $50 is what you have to pay.

Not $50 heavy. Shipping the springs and a full set of GR-2's cost me about $40 to the East coast. And that's not using a discounted shipping account set-up.
