brake clicks to the shift ****..solenoid

Nissan purists will love this one..I just got my 2k3 automatic Max (27k miles) back from the local enormous Nissan Dealership named "Norwood Nissan", aka "Evil Empire". in RI.

1-They replaced the cup holder, because a pivot broke. Good Fix

2-They replaced the driver's side door speaker because it blew (Bose). I am aware there is a TSB for the left channel somewhere in these forums, but can't find it.Bad Fix- I think it is the left channel because the sound is still shifting out of the speakers.

**So this is my point. I got the car back and now every time I put my foot on the brake, no matter what gear I am in, something bumps the gear shifter. A loud bump. *Picture* sitting at the drive-thru and every time you hit the brake, you hear a bump in the gear shifter ****.

I am currently fighting with the Service manager because he says every nissan has that bump and that it is the solenoid under the shifter **** (he showed me two nissans and they had a tiny little bump noise like that). I have never heard this noise in my car and neither has my girlfriend (who loves driving my car).

Needless to say, I told him I don't want the car until it is fixed.

Has anyone had an experience like this or know if that bump noise is normal??

I have 96k on mine and have heard the noise since I left the lot with it at 12 miles. I had always thought it was the shift lock.

It sounds more like a click than a bump in my 03, but it is the shift lock. It is surprisingly loud and has been there since day 1.

It is normal, it is an electric switch solenoid type so when it moves, you hear it, and if you are with real sensitive feminine hands you may feel some vibration.

sigh
